BB #13 MSU vs #2 Kentucky in the Garden

Hard to get on a freshman, but Bridges has played about as bad a game as any MSU player in my memory.

About the only positive is the play of Goins/Ward at center. 17 pts and 12 boards between them.

Bridges:

6 points

9 turnovers

Freshman or not, that can't happen ever again. That's pathetic

don't know why I was surprised Monk and KY had a good shooting night - everybody has their best shooting night against us. that can't be a coincidence.

as poorly and sloppily as they played, if they shoot in the low 30s from three and hit 80% of their FTs they're in the game. That may be a lot to ask given Lucious' point about the half court offense - dribbling out the shot clock and chucking up a bad shot. Also, I think the point either gotime or lucious made in a previous thread about our lack of length and the zone defense looks to be spot on.

Another point is that at least izzo is forced to keep playing the freshmen. Based on His prior track record, Bridges wouldn't play 10 minutes the next month. We'll be better come march from this.

Surprisingly rebounding and getting beat up inside (against 2 very large teams) have not been an issue yet. Wings and guards have hurt us more so far.

Young teams often struggle early on in halfcourt offense moreso than defense. I expect that will improve IF Harris can get his head out of his ass, and if Izzo starts wising up to the fact that Langford (and for that matter Winston) needs to be out there a lot more.

that is odd - I'm surprised that we matched Arizona 1 for 1 on rebounds on both ends. Watching that game it looked like we were getting dominated on the boards early - maybe we out-rebounded them later? And it's not like we evened it out on a bunch of long rebounds as AZ only attempted 14 3s the whole night.
