I just read that he beat out Manny for ROY and had 18 HRs for Det in 97? I feel like Rip Van Winkle. I like to think I'm an ave fan but I've never heard of this guy. Bob Hamelin? Is this a joke?

The Royals. Yeah lots of power. He was with Detroit at the end of a short career.

I remember him now that I saw his pic with those dumb glasses. Don't recall him in Detroit, but I do in KC.

" Hamelin abruptly quit his professional baseball career while playing in the minor leagues for the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers AAA Team) in 1999. After grounding out, he went back to the dugout and told manager Gene Roof, "I'm done", ending his professional baseball career as a player." -- That's the way to go out, on your terms.

I think I read where he's a scout now. I think for the Blue Jays.

I remember Stan Papi, Denny Rybant, Ikes Blessit and Brown. Champ Summers, Tom Matchick, Russ Nagleson, Bob Molinaro....But Bob Hamelin, no clue!!
