Boston terrorists

So at this time I am unaware whether the terrorists in Boston were AQ affiliated or what; however, it seems if it were a group like that they would have already claimed responsibility. In fact, I am surprised they didn't try to take credit already whether they were behind it or not just to raise some support.

So I am thinking this is more likely some US right wing nut job or group. Just seems like something some ultra conservative type would do, what with Boston being a primarily liberal city and all.

See champ, I really am a hater of both extremes, right and left.

Regardless, looking forward to them killing the bastard(s) responsible. I say that because typically they die in some sort of firefight with authorities. Still, times like this I wish we could invoke some degree of cruel and unusual punishment upon these assholes, cuz a quick death just doesn't provide enough justice for these actions, IMHO.

Yeah, I didn't say I was a liberal champ, so I'm good with the above.

my first inclination is that if it was a terrorist group the explosions would have been bigger and there would have been more dead people. Im going with crazy white guy that owes too many taxes.

This incident is the result ongoing fallout from the PNAC's largely successful efforts in promoting American hegemony overseas since the turn of the century. IMO. They have made it our legacy, and their belief that the US can thwart the radical portion of 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide, was pure insanity from the get-go. It has added trillions to the US debt and will continue to do so.

Terrorists have no flag, represent no one nation, have no ranks, wear no uniform, build no military vehicles, ships, equipment, or guns. and cannot ever be made to "surrender" on the deck of a US aircraft carrier, like the Japanese did at the close of WWII. Terrorism has an unlimited supply of recruits to draw from.

Of course the motivation to invade and occupy was ultimately about further enriching those who have the most to gain from the US government having adopted a pre-emptive POV...Big Oil, the US military, military+defense contractors, and those who have investments and/or who are stockholders. Those who had ties with Zionist organizations also knew how Israel would benefit from our aggressive stance.

just last week a nato airstrike killed 10 kids in afghanistan. was barely newsworthy here, and most news stations didnt cover it at all. few if any americans seemed to even give a shit, and unfortunately its not an isolated occurrence. and like 40 iraqis were killed in bombings this week. again didnt see any facebook posts offering prayers for the victims or any of that shit. empathy goes both ways, or its supposed to.

I really don't do that much of either one; otherwise, I would have stepped up.

An ignorant, jaded, aging, and financially struggling US middle class is unlikely to protest en-masse like it had during the Vietnam era. The fact that the MSM is owned by wealthy corporate capitalists with a vested interest in keeping most US citizens preoccupied with their own financial struggles due the ever-higher cost of living, reduced working hours and stagnant wages, along with reduced fringe benefits and increasing out of pocket expenses for healthcare, ect...means that the national shock and outrage over the mass-killings/murders that have occurred just over the past few years here in the US, more and more quickly dissipates.

By avoiding a draft and employing private-for-profit contractors to build, staff and manage the infrastructure surrounding US troops, who then were used over and over in battle, until they no longer were fit to fight due to wounds, injuries, or PTSD, the US invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan as a result, were met with far less resistance by the American public.

Ever since the proliferation of broadband internet in the 21st century, there are far more options and outlets available worldwide to locate and receive news and information including current events. It is much easier to avoid bad news than there is to obtain it, but we have to make a conscious effort to do so now, instead of picking up and reading the increasingly obsolete newspaper, or tuning into neutral or unbiased news radio stations and TV stations. Those who lack the motivation to do their own research to obtain "factual and truthful" (lol) news and information, or want to have it spoon-fed to them, often instead rely on just a few outlets, for rightwingers such as Fox News on TV, and Rush Limbaugh on the radio, and for progressives/liberals there is Current TV, and...well...pretty much nothing on the radio anymore, or few that I know of now that are nationally syndicated

I tend to browse Al-Jazzera or the BBC online, if I want to obtain more unbiased breaking-news reporting, even regarding events that occur here in the US, that is pretty fucking sad...Where are our 21st century versions of Huntley-Brinkley and Walter Cronkite?

media control and manipulation is incredibly effective. Westmoreland said somewhere that the Vietnam War was the first uncensored war the US ever fought.

They learned THAT lesson the hard way, I guess...

also, don't draft kids that don't want to fight.

Amazing the amount of misinformation that has been spread regarding this story. The Boston Police and FBI are now refuting much of what was stated as "breaking news" yesterday.

Violence hits harder when its closer to home (and, of course, when its actually covered by the media).

I abhor it all. I lost all faith in humanity a long time ago. Killing each other is what we do best.

Fixed it for you.

Obama didn't say the word "terrorism"! Arggggghhh!

Yeah, like the president must jump to conclusions as fast as the MSM or else! That was fucking terrible. Aren't there more important things to be concerned about than the president trying to verify information and making sure he doesn't jump the gun and make himself a fool?

Didn't vote for him, but he is president and deserves more respect as such. Of course the same could be said since the times of George WASHINGTON, so it seems we will forever be stuck with people being idiots about this sort of thing.

I think it's a reference to when the GOP talking heads all bashed Obama for not labeling the Egyptian embassy thing a terrorist act the minute it happened.

Actually, i was referring to these events. Right wing media is/was all over him not saying terror or terrorism in his first speech addressing the bombings. But yeah, the Libyan attacks work as well.

I just don't see the point in having to say the word terrorism. It was terrorism, but whether it was foreign or domestic, nobody knows. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out. I think the president really would have harmed himself and the image of the white house if he would have called it foreign terrorism without knowing the facts.
