a week or so after Trump's campaign manager, Joseph Goebbels, oops, a haha, ah, I mean Corey Lewandowski pointlessly assaulted a Breitbart reporter at a campaign event, she decided to press charges. breitbart management however threw her under the bus, calling her a liar despite evidence to the contrary. now she and another staffer resigned in protest.

breitbart.com initially posted an article calling both of them a bunch of names, but quickly took it down.

yeah, breitbart has really gone down hill in the last year or so, since Shapiro reduced his role there to just being editor at large to focus on other projects. I'm sure Andrew wouldn't be happy to have his name associated with the site in its current form. I haven't been a regular reader for a long time now.

Elected or appointed prosecutors do that.

Civilians can only make complaints or reports to law enforcement.

I never paid much attention to Breitbart either before the old guy died or since.

okay, yes technically the civilian can choose to file a complaint; the prosecutor decides on the charges. i thought it was colloquially understood that "to press charges" means "to press for charges"
