Cade Cunningham season ending Surgery

Bummer to lose him for the year, but relieved they made the decision. The team is still terrible, so the only thing lost here is game experience and cohesion (which won?t matter much with a lot of roster turnover).

Hopefully he?s 100% going into next season, and hopefully we get Wemby out of this.

It also allows for them to get one more look at Hayes.

Good point. Ivey/Killian should soak up most of those vacated minutes the rest of the season, so some of these younger guys should (hopefully) benefit from the additional time on the court for another 50+ games.

As a fan, my expectations for the team as a whole drop from almost non-existent to completely non-existent. That should make for a fun ~5 months of basically watching individual players and ignoring the score.

Yet ivey and Killian have barely been getting more minutes than Knox and Joseph/McGruder.

Instead of 25/23 splits it needs to be 30/18 or better. Casey is terrible with rotations. It what got him canned in Toronto.

Minutes per game

Ivey 30.7
Hayes 24.3
Joseph 15.5
Knox 13.7
McGruder 9.2

That seems pretty reasonable.

Just doing some quick math here

Average MPG

Ivey
w/Cade 31:43
w/o Cade 29:53

Killian
w/Cade 18:07
w/o Cade 28:37

Was surprised to see Ivey about the same (granted he hasn't been 100% healthy, which would explain some it). Killian has definitely seen a bump.

No love for Casey though, I think (or hope) that he's just a placeholder and he'll get canned when this team is ready to win.

Ivey and Hayes are averaging 27 minutes in the 7 games this month. That's with 2 of the games going to OT. That's 21+ minutes a night going to backups at those 2 positions. They need to play through mistakes and off shooting nights to grow. Pulling them so often isn't helping them
