Calvin Restructures

Those cap numbers for future years is freakin' huge even for someone like Calvin.

This was done before FA? Or is this after the fact to make a run at dumberville?

This makes it sound like last week but its not specific.

"Ndamukong Suh was not the only high-priced member of the Detroit Lions who agreed to restructure his contract last week to help the team free up some room under the salary cap."

Sounds to me like it was done today. Story is only a few hours old no matter where you look.

As for future cap years, the NFL is expected to add $1B in revenue in the next two years by televising more pre-season games and the longer televising of the Combine. All of that gets factored into the salary split between owners and players when determining the salary cap.

One expert pretty familiar with the number, last year, said they expected to see the cap at $150M by 2015.. so the numbers are probably not even going to hurt a little.

Once the players got a guaranteed split of the overall revenue, in a league expected to be making $15B a year by 2020... the salary cap and floor got so high they might as well not even exist anymore.

Just saw it on Yahoo, think it’s recent. Kind of weird, Mayhew says were done for now but CJ is restructuring to clear space for?????

Not a bad restructure only 857 K extra every year. We cut Best next year we get 800 k more in space.

Lions should be at around 4.1 million in space under going into next year counting 7.7 million for the 2013 draft class.

Don't forget KVB cap hit for this year, 5.8m or something like that. So that comes off in 2014..

They get about 7.3 million free next year from KVB/Young/Backus

800 k from Best if cut next (1.1 dead money)

Burleson probably his last year. 2.5 million more space (1.5 in dead money)

No way Thomas is on the roster at 3.5 million base salary

They'll be about 5 million under to start. Extend Stafford and Suh and they'll hae a ton of space. Easier said than done.
