Chris Greenwood CB

Just stating FACTS like he couldn't make the EMU team and every kid he has ever played against is GARBAGE.... Pretty good facts if you ask me.... And your posting a lot about this kid to not be outspoken about your thoughts on him...

All I saw is this "Then he attended Division I Eastern Michigan, where he never played because he would have had to sit out a year."

So where is the link he couldn't make the EMU football team?

Basically he transferred mid sophomore year to EMU, had to sit the rest of the year. The following year he could get on the team as a walk-on but apparently some credits didn't transfer from Northwood so he would have been ineligible and because he didn't want to wait another year, decided to go to Albion.

Why a walk on?? are there rules that you cant get a scholarship if you transfer or was he just not good enough in their mind to warrant a scholarship?

I doubt they just let a transfer get a scholarship right away, why would they? But I don't know the rules. Its not like EMU is loaded with CB talent. Nonetheless, the guy above who said FACT he couldn't make the team, apparently didn't know the facts either.

in all fairness he was referring to me and my previous post. i stated that he couldnt make the EMU team and he apparently was very upset about it lol.

i was assuming that making him wait a year and not giving him a scholarship on top of it meant they werent very high on the kid....i dont know the transfer rules either so again i was just assuming.

Ah. He might of just been upset with some credits not transferring..Either way, he would have been a JR, so if credits didn't transfer it moved him back to a Sophmore, I guess there is a rule about that and sitting out a year. But to be honest I have no idea.

Bottom line, them thinking he wasn't good enough without him playing with you means little. He never got the chance.

Mitch you obviously can't detect the sarcasm in my other post. I was the one trying to tell hughes that his so called FACTS were wrong. Maybe i should have added that he transferred only due to the fact he would have had to sit out a year.

Hughes already corrected me. I misunderstood your post, sorry.

Any news on how he's doing?

This is why I started the other thread about all of the CBs. All the news out of camp seems to be about the guys who have been in trouble. Then today we finally get a tidbit about Tahir and a little about Reiff...but haven't heard anything about the CBs and that really needs to be a focus for these "reporters" who are asking the questions.

my guess would be that albion and lafayette cb's are adjusting to guarding joe schmoe to CJ and others

Guessing he might start the season on the practice squad... Schwartz usually prefers to keep 6 CBs on the active roster.

Just read this however:
Lions third-round CB Dwight Bentley is "clearly ahead" of fellow rookie CBs Chris Greenwood and Jonte Green at OTAs.

It's the way it's supposed to be, seeing as Bentley was the highest draft pick. "(Bentley) looks like a polished college player, much better than I anticipated," DC Gunther Cunningham conceded. Bentley is competing with Jacob Lacey for Lions nickel back duties. Chris Houston and Aaron Berry are starting.

Schwartz usually tends to keep 6 CBs on the active roster so I'd say Houston, Berry, Bentley, and Lacey are locks... Weaver is a likely cut... and then Alphonso Smith and Don Carey will be competing with the other rookies for the next 2 spots. Greenwood seems like a strong practice squad candidate and nothing I've read about Green has really excited me, could get cut.

Lacey is absolutely not a lock. I'd go with Houston, Berry, Smith, Bentley, and Greenwood as locks. The sixth will be between Lacey, Green, and Carey.

You do realize that if a player is on the practice squad, any team in the league can grab him immediately, right? No way in hell Mayhew lets that happen with Greenwood.

Seriously??? Lol he finished his college career at Albion. I have friends from high school who were semi-decent playing at Division 8 schools and currently start at Albion. The Lions had one of the worst secondarys in the league last year, if he's not good enough to make the active roster for the Lions another teams not gonna waste their time stealing him from the practice squad.

And yeah I'd say if Lacey's currently competing with Bentley for the nickelback position (based on the recent rotoworld report) then he's probably a lock for making the active roster.

Needless to say though this is just speculation based on this point in time... Greenwood might prove that he has what it takes to be an NFL CB and Lacey might prove that he sucks but Im just basing things on what is apparent.

Thank you for that dose of reality.

Did you hear Mayhew talk about Greenwood? They traded UP to get him. He's not sniffing the practice squad.

Come find me when he's not on the roster Week 1.

worse case is Greenwood will come up with a mysterious injury and be IR'ed if they dont feel he is ready to contribute

yeah, i agree there is zero chance they let greenwood go to the practice squad. you don't make that type of investment with the understanding that the guy is not polished and send him to the curb. maybe next year, but definitely not this year.
