Climate change denialism comes cheap

Googling the Penn State guy, there's no indication that his positions were bought. He's consistently a pro-coal guy. He's been retired for years, but coal pushers go to him for papers. It's sketchy that he's so willing to work for people that make it clear they want to hide the funding source, but that's different from the implication that he's lying for money.

Keep in mind, the normal existence of a research professor is to bring in money and spit out papers. That and teaching are the two things professors do. You can spend millions on hardware and grad students, but the end product of all those millions, is a paper.

Green Peace is the reason this hasn't gotten more publicity, IMO.

Their extremist methods, while based on good ideals, have skewed public opinion toward a negative reaction when they are mentioned.

And coal being bad for the environment isn't really breaking news any more.

not sure how they are any more extreme than the people actively pushing bad science.

and i'm not sure why you wrote that ladt point since it has nothing to do with anything I posted.

I've developed active avoidance of Greenpeace from repeatedly running into their donation solicitors. I suspect they are instructed to wear camouflage. It's not the majority of them wearing it, but enough of them that it doesn't seem like random chance.

That's why you avoid those annoying tree huggers?

Because of their fashion sense?

Didn't mean to imply they are more extreme, but when you hear those bad science people do something to support their agenda, you tune them out, no? I do. Maybe that's me.

As for the last point, the article was about coal industry paying someone to write a positive analysis. Yeah, I don't find that shocking, especially considering the bigger scope. Politicians, lawyers, big businesses and others are constantly paying money for reports that put a positive spin toward their agenda. Certainly as a lawyer you see this on a very frequent basis. This is why stats get a bad rep, cause people can slant them to fit nearly any cause. In law, the opposing lawyers get all kinds of analysis to support their case, no? Then the opposing side does everything possible to tear apart that info. Political things like coal pollution sides doing it is hardly a shocking revelation.

Now if Greenpeace had discovered no one would write a supportive analysis for coal industry, THAT would have been shocking. Lol

No. It's their "I'm at war for the environment" attitude. They're aggressive with their schtick, and they hang out at the park so I only run into them when I'm actively trying to relax.
