George Winn - RB - Free Agent
Lions waived RB George Winn.
Winn got a little run with Joique Bell out during the preseason, carrying the rock 17 times for 69 yards. He had little chance of beating out SPARQ legend Zach Zenner for the No. 4 spot behind Bell, Ameer Abdullah and passing-down back Theo Riddick.

Larry Webster - DL - Free Agent
Lions waived DE Larry Webster, DE Jerel Worthy, DL Kerry Hyder, S Brian Suite and S Isaiah Johnson.
A 2014 fourth-rounder, Webster was talked up in the offseason, but didn't show any improvement once the Lions put the pads on in August. The leap from FCS Bloomsburg proved too big to make. Webster will presumably be sheltered on the practice squad, but he's never going to make an impact in Detroit.

Joseph Fauria - TE - Free Agent
Lions released TE Joseph Fauria.
Fauria collected seven touchdowns as a rookie but disappeared during his sophomore campaign in 2014 (six catches for 74 yards). His roster spot was in jeopardy as soon as the Lions traded for Tim Wright at the end of August. Fauria caught three passes for 24 yards during the preseason.

Kellen Moore - QB - Free Agent
Lions waived QB Kellen Moore.
Moore has been with the Lions since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He had a solid summer, but was never going to overcome his physical limitations. Moore is undersized, and lacks arm strength. Dan Orlovsky is Matthew Stafford's backup.

Another legend in some parts waived ^

Greg Salas - WR - Free Agent
Lions released WR Greg Salas.
Salas was productive this preseason with 138 yards and a touchdown on 10 receptions, but a knee injury suffered in the final preseason game likely sealed his fate. This move could be good news for sophomore WR T.J. Jones.

Two qbs is smart since Moore was worthless. Fauria and Webster are big ones. Webster is ps eligible

Wright has more tds in last two years and can produce between 20s. Makes sense. We tried to get him off waivers in June. Good move to trade a kicker we would cut anyway

Yes, I still rather have 4th round draft picks be here more than a season.

I don't care about wasting 2nd and 4th round picks. At least the days of The Beast That Shall Not Be Named wasting 1st rounders is behind us.

Looks like TJ will be the 5th wr. Bye bye Ross
I seen that one coming. TJ is going to be way better.

What I would like to know is what happened to Webster? How could a guy regress so fast! I know he was a project and all but he really showed promise last year. Fauria was square peg in a round hole inside club house is what I read somewhere.

Jeremy Ross - WR - Free Agent
Lions waived WR/PR Jeremy Ross.
Ameer Abdullah will be Detroit's primary return man this season.

I would rather see Jones back there as our return guy. Showed decent ability and do t want to see A.A. get hurt

Happy that TJ Jones is getting a shot and Ross is gone. A little surprised they released Salas. Big bodied WR that could have helped in the RZ.

Disappointed in Webster. So much hype on this kid leading up to OTAs and TC. All for nothing....

Agreed with all except Salas. Not that he wasn't worth a look.....but it seems his injury will be a long term thing......and there was no reason to keep him around. Bring him back next year if he's still out there and let him prove it again.

Not a pleasant business......but it is what it is.

Ok, makes sense then. Wasn't factoring the knee in there...oh well. Very happy for Zenner...what a great story
