3 Blake Bortles QB Jaguars 91 balsy to take the qb over the best talent in the draft
4 Sammy Watkins WR Bills 96 bills give up a ton but get the best player in the draft
5 Khalil Mack OLB Raiders 96 solid
6 Jake Matthews OT Falcons 95 didn't get the defensive player they coveted but probably got their biggest need
7 Mike Evans WR Buccaneers 94 yuck
8 Justin Gilbert DB Browns 91 decent reach...but I would have said the same for the next 12 people that were drafted
9 Anthony Barr OLB Vikings 90 way to fuck it up queens
10 Eric Ebron TE Lions 92 meh (would have said meh for anyone we picked but I would have rather been saying meh after a defensive upgrade)
11 Taylor Lewan OT Titans 94 good value...not much of a need
12 Odell Beckham Jr. WR Giants 93 nice fit
13 Aaron Donald DT Rams 94 good value...dline is scary. STL building the trenches....mayhew needs to take a class on how to turn a team around.
14 Kyle Fuller DB Bears 92 meh
15 Ryan Shazier OLB Steelers 92 interesting pick for their defense...dude is a playmaker but not a "typical" PIT lb
16 Zack Martin OT Cowboys 93 good value
17 C.J. Mosley ILB Ravens 92 perfect raven pick
18 Calvin Pryor S Jets 91 thought theyd go WR here...pryor is good value
19 Ja'Wuan James OT Dolphins 80 picking a RT in the top 20 always reminds me of cherilus
20 Brandin Cooks WR Saints 91 trade up for a slot....good value..good chance it turns out better than broyles.
21 Ha Ha Clinton-Dix S Packers 92 great value ....most of us thought wed take him at 10.
22 Johnny Manziel QB Browns 90 great movement in the first round nets them the guy they were targeting at 4, gilbert and a shiton of picks. must be nice to have a gm that can actually pull off a trade down.....sigh....
23 Dee Ford DE Chiefs 89 meh...where does he play there with hali and Houston infront of him?
24 Darqueze Dennard DB Bengals 92 great value and need.
25 Jason Verrett DB Chargers 90 thought theyd target the defensive front 7. about the right spot for verret though.
26 Marcus Smith DE Eagles 70 slight reach for a tweaner guy. poor mans avril drafted probably 20 picks too high
27 Deone Bucannon S Cardinals 86 reach for need?...did they really need a safety that bad?
28 Kelvin Benjamin WR Panthers 75 yucky pick....BOOOOOOO
29 Dominique Easley DT Patriots 77 thought Nix would be better for them with wilfork coming off injury. risky pick coming off major knee injuries.
30 Jimmie Ward S 49ers 84 like this kid...that being said I thought hed be one of our 2nd rd targets. run on safeties....really?...who saw that coming?
31 Bradley Roby DB Broncos 89 good value
32 Teddy Bridgewater QB Vikings 89 Barr and Bridgewater....if this draft took place in December the queens would have won the draft already. Unfortunately both these guys bombed the pre draft workouts. our 3rd place in the division should be safe...

It sucks that we pick 13 in round 2. But dem the breaks.

How dumb are you? Mayhew has made a fantastic trade for Sims, drafted Reiff, got an absolute STEAL in Warford, a rookie UFA starter in Waddle, drafted Suh, Ansah and Fairly. Yeah, he needs a class about building the trenches.

You have a right to not like Mayhew.....but spouting ignorant BS just makes you look like a desperate loser with an infatuation with all things Martin Mayhew.

You named a lot of "trench" guys but only one stud in that group.

Reiff is good, Sims is good, Warford is an absolute stud. Waddle has potential to be, but isn't there yet.....but don't forget he was an URFA.

Suh is the best DT in football and Ansah had a GREAT rookie year and is on his way to being one of the best DE in football. Fairly has potential but hasn't reached it yet.....if ever.

How's that Jason Smith pick working for St. Louis?

you sound a little like LKP.

What did he say that was untrue?

Those are his opinions...I think he's over rating most of them. The one that I really disagree with is that Ansah is on his way to become one of the best DEs in the NFL. But again...just opinions...we all view players differently.

Overrating who though?

how dumb are you? what has he done this offseason to date? tate, Pettigrew, ebron.....yippie fuckin wooo....

If those defensive players are great then the Lions would be a playoff caliber team. Well as of now we are not.. I hope the pick works out but we just can't have a team that allows 376 points ... We need to shave off 70 to 100 points in my opinion
Seattle 231, SF 276. But then that is a high bar... Or we can give up some more points if we could just limit our turnovers, and create more turnovers...Again how much help does Stafford need? 9 of the last 12 picks in the first round were defense, and the last pick was by Minnesota.. So what does that tell you... defense wins titles..... The Lions fan's deserve a defense like Seattle... The picks on the line have been good just not winning good yet.. Theses are just my opinions...

Scheme is a big factor in the NFL. The Lions ran a piss poor scheme last year. VERY vanilla, passive, easy to read.....a MASSIVE difference from the two teams you mentioned.

They wont do that this year, IMO. This defense will be better even if we do little in the draft to address it because we will have a better scheme.

That's not saying I don't think the Lions should add defensive talent. They absolutely should. Personally, I would have gone D with our 1st rounder....Ha Ha or Dennard.

I think I would be on board with the Ebron pick more if he hadn't signed Pettigrew.

Pettigrew can be cut after this season no problem. All of his guaranteed money is in the first year. Nothing wrong with keeping him around for the experience and then cut bait before next season.

I wanted dennard real bad... I really think he is gong to be a great NFL player..I hope you are right about the scheme... Maybe our defense has a banner year this year....

I was in the car for the past 4 hours and almost everyone I heard thinks the Lions screwed the pooch with the Ebron pick. One interesting thing I heard on the Dan Patrick show...he said he was told by someone that the Lions may be trying to get out from under Calvin Johnson's contract. He said his source indicated that the Lions are concerned with his knee issues and that may be the reason for the Ebron pick. Not sure if there is any truth to that but it is interesting.

Whether the knee is a big problem or not he's not going to be here forever. He'll be 29 early season..
