So, this is his theory to me this morning ...

"Will Shoelace leave Michigan and Hoke to go reunite with Rich Rod at Arizona ...I could see it."

"ND might be losing a RB coach to Urban at OSU but the one I'm watching is Greg Mattison at UM who is tight with Urban. It will be interesting to see if Urban woos him to OSU."

I'm not sure if laughter or simply mocking him is more appropriate.

Woo him away from his grandchild... Yeah, NO...

I think Mockery is the appropriate COA.

So mattinson, who left urban to coach the ravens. Leaves a great ravens job for michigan, to be near his faimly. Is going to get with urban with a team he absolutely hates. Lol

Urban would take Mattison is a second, You could tell every time he talked about him that he has a deep appreciation for him. However the only reason he left the Ravens is because of Hoke and We are Michigan. And the Denard thing is just funny he loves U of M more than Dick Rod.

That ND fan is due for a lot of mockery from those stupid-ass comments.

There are people this stupid?

"Delusional" is assumed in the context of any ND fan.

well, I don't think it's unreasonable to think Meyer would try to lure Mattison away... after seeing the way our defense turned around, he's gotta be a pretty hot commodity.

The family connections and connections to Brady are one thing, but then again, he did leave in '97 to go to ND...

his daughter's in Tecumseh, MI... ohio is not that far away.

I HOPE Mattison is happy, and Ann Arbor is his last coaching stop, but the ND fan isn't being THAT dumb for thinking of the connection, at least.

PS --- but I don't see Shoelace leaving. No chance. When Hoke got there, he made it clear he wanted to stay in Ann Arbor with his teammates.

I think his views as expressed in the SI piece are convincing. And there's no way Brady and Mattison haven't anticipated Meyer getting the job--

I would be shocked if Mattison left Michigan for Ohio, completely floored. I just think ND fan is bitter because it's now the 3rd program in the area behind UM, OSU & arguably both Wisky & MSU.

I read that too ...or Fickell. Spielman would be a mistake, IMO - Vrabel ...there are decent guys in place already. How much of Meyer's ego wants his guys in will be similar to Rich Rod's situation.

I get the feeling that Fickell may end up getting screwed once he helps Urban with recruiting and player evaluations.

In his press conference he mentioned that most of his guys were already gone.

I like Fickell a lot and was hoping he would do well enough this season to get the job. I am not comfortable with the idea that he is on Urban's staff but does not have a title yet. They did mention what some of his duties will be but I get the feeling they are shopping around to see what else they can get before figuring out how to use him.

I had heard, back at the time he was promoted to interim, that he was a great recruiter.

And it wouldn't be unprecedented. Last year when the Broncos canned McDaniels, the RB coach was promoted to interim HC and is currently on staff with John Fox. I don't think Fickell was ever really expected to be the permanent coach and is one of the reasons he was promoted to begin with. Nothing against him, but he was the guy to carry the team through the season and I give him props for doing it.

In the end that's why I said it was depending on Meyer's ego to see who stays and who goes.

This is what Spielman had to say about going back into coaching:

[quote:vaxfsgfl]He also knows his football, so when talk turns to the possibility of joining Meyer's staff, he doesn't hesitate to answer with a quiet

I'd love for him to bring Spielman in somewhere on his staff. Can he bring in Cherbstreit, too?

It'd be great to no longer have to listen to them in pregame or during games.
