Btw I hate the lottery system of the NBA and NHL. We could be in the top 4 and still end up picking 6th, or 7th. Worst teams should get the first pick lol.

The season is lost. They aren't making the playoffs. And yes, you do need a top pick. Look at any other NHL franchise that has turned it around. It is 9/10 a guy in the top of the draft that pulls them forward.

Like Buffalo who's had many top picks and finally are decent, yet out of a playoff position right now. Top pick doesn't guarantee you get better quickly. Oilers were shit for a long time and finally made it last year only to be .500 again looking outside a playoff appearance. How has Connor McD made them a playoff success year after year.

Imo, we have some young talent to get to the playoffs. You say look at the franchises who have turned it around, look at the ones that haven't.

And do I have to mention the players we got out of the first round who were stars, like Pavel & Zimmerman? Plus we just got 2 1st round picks that have a lot of potential. The young guys we have on the team now need to win, not tank.

I hate the lottery system, but it is better than automatically giving top picks to teams in lowest places because it encourages tanking.


Tanking has been an issue for 3 decades, the Penguins were one of the first to get backlash for it. But they did get Mario and 2 cups on 2 incredibly stacked teams.
