Detroit Red Wings trade prospect Richard Nedomlel to Blues for future considerations.
The Detroit Red Wings have traded prospect Richard Nedomlel to the St. Louis Blues for future considerations, the club announced today.
The Red Wings selected the big defenseman in the sixth round (175th overall) in the 2011 NHL draft after three seasons with the WHL's Swift Current Broncos.
A native of the Czech Republic, Nedomlel had good size at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds but he never developed into the player the Red Wings envisioned .
During three pro seasons, he played just five games with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins while appearing in 119 games for the ECHL's Toledo Walleye. This season, he had no points and 20 penalty minutes in Grand Rapids while picking up two assists and 14 PIM in 10 games with Toledo.
His best season with the Walleye was as a rookie in 2013-14, when Nedomlel had eight goals, 10 assists and 150 PIM in 60 games.
Two years ago, Nedomlel was ranked among the Red Wings' top 20 prospects. The move to St. Louis gives him a fresh start in a new organization with his entry level contract expiring.
