Did we learn the lessons yet?

We all know Russia killed more Germans in WWII.... Germany lost 7 to 9 Million people...The Soviet Union lost 21-28 Million depending on the Figures you us.. As you said most of those were on the eastern front... Not sure what we should do with Putin but he is a real problem right now...Although I do think Nato and the American Military are a lot better then Putin's guys..

Exactly.

The German military is state of the art. The Russian military is not.

Russia has the advantage in sheer numbers of planes, tanks, etc. but much of it is decades old.

Germany has the technological advantage.

Remember the Republican Guard in Iraq was once like the 5th or 6th largest standing army in the world...what did they last against superior technology and state of the art weapons systems? A few weeks?

Yes NATO forces combined are clearly more powerful than Russia but that's mostly because the US ex-the rest of NATO is far superior militarily to Russia but that's not the point. The original statement was something like Merkel could probably crush Russia easier than Hitler did - she couldn't and Hitler didn't.

By the way, the Republican Guard was not the 5th or 6th largest standing army, it was the elite division of the Iraqi military. The much larger number of regulars was what made their army so big. And Iraq had fought a >10 year war with Iran that decimated its military and nearly bankrupted the country - Sadam could barely feed let alone pay his army. That's why they invaded Kuwait. Iraq didn't have the nearly the military budget Russia has - they're not even close to comparable. Any technological edge Germany may have is probably not huge - certainly nothing like the spread between the US and Iraq. If Germany could smack Putin down so easily, why does Europe want us to build the missile defense system so badly.

But again the first button pushed we are all dead in less then a year if more go off... Well you guys are... Old Guy Bob inherited some guns from his old Man.... I now own a .357

"Make my day Vlad"

Pretty big gun but I think you have to have a .44 Magnum to use that quote.

Damn y'all either hijacked my thread or completely didn't get my point. Inteeresting comments nonetheless.

The Russians are threatening to not allow US astronauts on their rockets to reach ISS. The part about the engines is they are demanding we not put their engines on our military rockets.

But my point is we should never have gotten to where we cannot put our own engines on those rockets and still have space vehicles for US astronauts to reach the ISS, and flip Putin the bird whenever we launch a rocket.

Yes we are planning to go back, but until we DO we are just flat out not competing like we should be. Yes the recession was a major factor, but we could have put things on hold instead of on the scrap pile. No reason to toss everything in the shitter when one never knows what could happen.

So have we finally learned the lessons???

You have a link for this?

I have read several articles, including the one you linked, and never saw anything about the ISS other than blocking the proposal to use it until 2024, 4 years longer then scheduled. Not one word about blocking US Astronauts from boarding Soyuz spacecraft.

In fact, a day later it's practically a non-story.

How long do you think it will take SpaceX? They can already dock with the ISS.

Pffft. Hijacked. We don't that. We're pretty good about staying focused.

Did y'all see they found 103 year old orca? Bad timing for Sea World.

you forgot to say that conservatives are keeping orcas in tiny pools because they're half black...

I wasn't going to bring that up...I was just going to point out that surveys show that the orcas kept in tiny pools indicate they would tend to vote more often for democrats. But nobody ever puts a voting booth in the tiny pools they have access to.

do they have ID or would the spots suffice?

In CA, you're not supposed to check the spots.
In MI, a spot check is sufficient.
In Texas, you need ID.
In Mississippi, you need ID and you have to pass a written test sitting at a standard sized school desk.

Here you go. US-made access to the ISS in 2017.
