I guess the NHL has what it wants with just about every team in it till the end.

Keep in mind that the Red Wings are competing for a slot in the Atlantic Conference playoff matchups, or they may be a wild card. 1st slot in the Atlantic will face one of the two wild card teams in the first round. The 2nd and 3rd slots in the Atlantic will face each other in the first round. The 4th best team in the Atlantic may be a wild card, but that is not a guarantee. The #7 and #8 seeds in the Eastern Conference are wild cards. The division winners (#1 seeds) in the Metropolitan and Atlantic will face wild card teams (#7 and #8,) which could be from either Atlantic or Metropolitan.
