Lions coach Jim Schwartz is high on undrafted free agent WR Patrick Edwards.
"(We) were very surprised that he didn't get drafted," Schwartz said. "He was a guy that we went to work on right away, as soon as that draft was over." Edwards caught 89 passes for 1,752 yards and an NCAA-leading 20 touchdowns last season, but stands in at just 5-foot-9, 175 pounds. He'll likely need No. 54 pick Ryan Broyles (torn ACL) to begin the year on the PUP list to have any chance of cracking Detroit's crowded receiver corps.
I believe he's a returner as well. I think he'll push Logan for the #5 WR spot, and he'll probably get it. Broyles and Bentley can return as well, so there's really no need for Logan. Might as well have a guy who might be able to produce if necessary IMO.
