YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. --
Just way to young....RIP...

Authorities say an Eastern Michigan women's basketball player and another student were killed in a head-on collision.

The Washtenaw County sheriff's department says the collision happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday in Ypsilanti Township. It says a vehicle driven by 21-year-old junior forward Shannise Heady veered over the road's center line, hitting an oncoming vehicle.

Heady, of Hazel Crest, Illinois, and her passenger, 23-year-old senior Jordan Hopkins, were killed. The other driver was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Eastern Michigan president Susan Martin says it's a "tragic loss" and that the school is offering counseling to those seeking it.

Heady had transferred to the Michigan school in January 2013 from Seton Hall.

It is sad. What is even worse is the young man who was a passenger in her car who also died. The accident was her fault.

Per the initial investigation the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and went left of center when they struck an oncoming car. Both that were killed were not wearing seat belts...the driver of the other car was wearing his and he survived.

Yup... shame... Always wear your seatbelts... Glad my kids listen to me sometimes.. Because they always do..1:00 am... Was alcohol involved?

Tragic, but no seat belts that's just crazy. It even warns you with a beep..put the fuckers on.
