This power outage issue at Candlestick got me thinking.....how often has a pro (4 major sports) event been forfeited?

All I can come up is Disco Demolition night in Chicago when I was a teen in between games of a twin bill.

Leaky roofs, collapsed roofs, delayed flights, insufficient rosters, etc...can't remember one.

I think 10 cent beer night atbclevleand never finished - they got to ninth inning and tied

Ahhh....wasn't there also a 5 cent beer night at a Brewers game that might have been forfeited?

FOR THE RECORD... the last time I checked, 10 cent beer night in cleveland is a HILARIOUS wikipedia article if you are so inclined.

The higher ups didn't forsee a problem where fans could have beer for 10c? Lol.

Disco demolition night for the White Sox vs Tigers was a classic forfeit.

according to the wiki article, the Rangers-Indians played a week before that in a similar environment in Dallas. I think it was 25 cent beer night, or something. It was crazy, but didn't get out of hand like it did in Cleveland. it seemed like things really spiraled out of control in Cleveland when Billy Martin ran out in the field with a bat to beat fans away from his outfielders.

but yeah... cheap drink nights are almost always a bad idea.

"... For White Sox outfielder Rusty Torres, Disco Demolition Night was actually the third time in his career he had personally seen a forfeit-inducing riot. He had played for the New York Yankees at the last Senators game in Washington in 1971 and the Cleveland Indians at the infamous Ten Cent Beer Night in Cleveland in 1974."

Because people in Dallas love God, love Jesus and drive around with gun racks in their pick up trucks is the reason something like this would never spiral out of control there.

Did the Saints lose any games due to Katrina? And wasn't there a lost week following Sept 11th, 2001 for the NFL?

Cheap alcohol night must bring out the same crazy people that trample one another for black Friday "savings".
