Adds up to about four years of penalties, altogether.

Just about the same duration of Urban Meyer's typical shelf life.

Keith Urban Meyer is going to write another whiny song over this outcome.

Surprisingly militant post, Tinsel. Not in keeping with my perception of your style.

Penalties are deserved. No argument there. Buckeyes will rebound, however, and Meyer will be the director. You know they will, you know its true. Everybody here knows its true. Moreover, those with any sense of history will be happy with the rebound! As are most Buckeye fans with with the return to relevance of M. That be the rivalry!

Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas and Go Blue (vs. Va Tech)!

Just having a little fun jwlco - more of an inside tongue in cheek laugh with my fellow Michigans, not really meant to be a slam on our Buckeye visitors - USC people are grousing that Ohio* pretty much got hit with nothing, anyway.

Kirk Herbstreit said Buckeye fans shouldn't be complaining - they should be having a parade!

Of course Ohio* is going to rebound, but it can take its time going about it; it doesn't have to be in that big of a hurry on my account, way things have been for Michigan the last few years.

Merry Chritmas!!!!!

The whole "Ohio will rebound" thing makes no sense at all. Tressel won at least 10 games 7 times during his tenure and took Ohio* to plenty of Bowls and BCS Bowls.

How is Herb Enmeijer such a huge "upgrade" over what Tressel did (albeit with cash, tatts and cars that Herb may not be so looose with, at first anyways)

Really? 2011 happened, no?

Great point. What a sucky team and season and record and bowl game to go to ...and all after an 0-0 vacated 2010 season. You just know that college football fans everywhere are hoping Herb can turn things around and turn them around soon!

Just sayin', Professor. Maybe you overslept.

Playing the "victim/underdog card" after what's transpired is pretty transparent and pretty lame, if you ask me.

No chance of that, friend. OSU cheated, was caught and has been penalized. They're not victims. Sadly, they were perps. They'll get it right, however. You know its true.

No chance of that?? It's already happening. Cries about Penn State and Miami(FL) and how Tressel got jobbed and how the team got screwed with the Bowl ban for next year...

i love gordon gee and gene smith being shocked and disappointed

the coverup and stories did more damage than the actual crime but then we always felt something was shady down there

Wrong. Anything official from the University or Meyer is that they are completely accepting of the penalties and they'll do/be better going forward. You're making it up or hallucinating or taking your cue from others who are hallucinating. Tressel did not get screwed and the bowl ban, while disappointing, is not a surprise. Pay attention!

this they are saying disappointed but aren't going to contest

the real issue is what does ncaa do for other programs - they have some serious credibility gaps over the past few years

if that's true today, then it was different all the way up until the bowl ban was announced. I posted a quote from Gene Smith yesterday where he was basically saying he would be shocked, and would go ballistic if they received a post-season ban.

When you read about ohio's lackluster academic reputation, and the fact that ohio faculty are often laughed at throughout academic circles as coming from a football factory, look no further than Gee's idiotic comments about hoping the football coach didn't fire HIM, the president of the university, when this scandal first broke.

Smith has repeatedly put his foot in his mouth during this thing too.

I'm amazed that any self-respecting university (outside the SEC of course), could retain such a couple of screw ups at the top after the way this thing played out.

Smith is a classic case of affirmative action. It happens, particularly in academia. Especially in academia. Gee is actually well respected in academic circles. He's a dweeb but respected. That, too, may say something about academia.

Herb is going to going to revolutionize the B1G with the spread offense.

That's what many of you guys used to preach on the old board about another import! The difference is that your guy truly was an import. Meyer has history and a B1G pedigree. Another diff is that Meyer's teams play defense. You guys forgot about that part of the game for a little while.
