Pittsburg battling for a division title, playing San Diego right now.

Obviously the Tigers attempting to whittle that magic number down vs. Mariners, also hoping to keep chances for home field advantage alive.

St. Louis in the hunt for that NL Central also, playing Colorado.

Dodgers attempting to become the first team to clinch division/post season berth vs. Arizona.

Those are the day games, anyway.

This evening, Cleveland fighting to stay in the hunt for a postseason appearance, playing Houston.

Yankees on life support, playing Toronto.

Boston vying for home field advantage throughout, taking on Baltimore, still mathetically very much alive.

Tampa Bay and Texas reprise their battle for that first wild card play in game slot.

And Oakland also trying to stay in contention for home field advantage throughout, vs. Minnesota.

Did I leave any out?

Unfortunately most of those games are a possible playoff team vs. someone who has no chance. A typical day. Like yesterday or the day before..

That's what I like, except 10am starts are confusing to me still..

Sunday football games in eastern time zone stadiums must be a real bitch.

Sundays not too bad because I'm up early enough but if I want a brat or something on the grill, 10am is a bit too early.

Its the Monday or Thursday night games which are tough because 5:30 is hard for me to have time to watch..4:00 baseball games as well.

On a side edit: In Arizona there is no daylight savings time so in November we'll be 2 hours before EST.

Well that's what I meant. I like to watch football with a beer or two in me by kickoff, and in order for that I need to have eaten something substantial at that point.

Would not want to dump cold beer on top of scrambled eggs and a banana.

Even back when I had season tix to the Lions in the silverdome and we used to tailgate before 7 game each year, it was always at least 11:30 before we started with the barley pops.

I cannot fathom kickoff at 10 am. does not compute.

Yeah but there is one advantage, Sunday night games are over by 8:30ish. If I have to get up extra early Monday morning I can watch the full game.

Cold beer with scrambled eggs and a banana, lol.

That's why God created Bloody Marys.

There are no tailgate parties for 10 am kickoffs, unless some people in the Western are tailgaiting for a game they're going to watch on television, for whatever reason.

Back in the day I went out to a couple of Michigan game watches for 9 am Pacific time kick offs, and some people were imbibing - but that's too early for me; so I just watch early starts at home on television.

Thing is both Saturday and Sunday, football is on all day, so there's plenty of football to watch with a couple brews, even if one chooses to lay off for the early starts.
