Tigers vs. Reds Preview: The stoppable force meets the movable object.
Reds starter Homer Bailey hasn?t been very good this year, but neither has the Tigers offense.

So Avila brings up a guy hitting .214 to fill martins spot brilliant, is that the best we had. Wait never mind I won’t ask..

No hitter for the reds guy tonight?

Went for a cigar, come back and Niko hits a home run,
they won't get no hit or shut out at least.

Maybe not the best numbers overall but imo Niko is in the running for Tigers MVP.

Hey the tigers got a hit and it’s was a homer off homer so they winning too, well how bout that

Boyd pitches his heart out, 8 IP, 0 runs, 4 hits, 1 walk, 7 K's, 105 pitches,

Tigers still have 1 run and 1 hit,

He better, no reason to give the pen a chance to blow it, games like this should always be the starters game to win or lose imo

.214 guy wearing the big wheels old number with his first mlb hit and rbi makes it 2-0 going to the 9th for Boyds complete game shut out

Boooo I would have left Boyd in, hate it with a passion

2-1 tigers win, Greene manages to not quite blow it, not real happy they didn’t let Boyd finish it. Complete game shutouts are just not allowed in today’s game. Don’t like it, managers too afraid to let great starts be blow in the last inning by the starters to afraid it might hurt thier confidence or something. I say, No risk no reward, no reward no next level confidence.

I've always said this.. There is a reason RP aren't starters. No one when they're young says I want to be a RP. Unless you're Mariano Rivera let the starter pitch.

Jason Beck was saying that 11 pitch? at bat by billy hamilton in the 8th inning knocked any chance of Boyd coming out for the 9th,

Mitch did you know Mariano Rivera was a starting pitcher initially in 1995.

Thank you. I saw that a long time ago because they all want to be starters. Even the best RP in all of baseball history wanted to be a starter at one time. It worked out for the best.. Obviously that's an anomaly ;-).

11 pitch - kind of a weak reason in my opinion.

I have no problem pulling Boyd after the 8th. 105 pitches and a 2 run lead. Good job Gardy.

I would?ve liked to see the kid get a chance at the complete game shutout. That?s pretty rare these days. But I?m not gonna bag on the decision too much.
