Tigers vs. Astros Preview: Matthew Boyd aims to slow down white-hot Astros lineup.
The Astros have been hotter than Hades recently, and roll into Detroit on a five-game win streak.

Miguel Cabrera figured out an ideal way to avoid future ejections.

Tigers' arms no match for Astros' power.

Astros 8 - Tigers 1: Houston homer barrage continues against Matthew Boyd, Tigers.
Splitting a series with the Twins was one thing. Keeping their heads above water against the Astros will be quite another.

Teams that way outperform their pythagorean usually have a solid record in close games.
That's the value of Shane Greene this season.
To put it another way, Tigers are 18-21 with a -56 run differential.
Their previous low for run differential with an 18-21 record is -45 back in 1975.
Tigers are MLB-best 17-9 in games decided by three runs or less.

DET has now gone 10-17, .370 WPCT the last 27 games. They were 8-2 in 3 run games in their first 12 (8-4 total). 9-7 in the last 27 games in 3 run games. 1-10 with games more than 3 runs. For the season, they are 1-12 in games over 3 runs.

They are 13-3 when scoring 4 runs or more, 17-6 when they limit the opposing team to 4 runs or less.

BLUF. They started great, but they are trending away from where they started.

This is a bad team. The team was bad in March, April & the first 1/2 of May. They will be bad all year. They have no hitting and a shitty pitching staff. They may have won some games early, but they are bad.

So you're saying they're bad? Ha.

It is easier to muster knowing the team was never going to compete. No one expected them to continue at an 8-4 pace. I pay more attention to our young players in the minors than the ML team right now. Though I do like watching Goodrum and Ronny ..

Same here. I was interested in Candy when they first brought him up but I don't think he will amount to anything. I still hope Boyd does well since he is young and under control. Still hoping that someone trades for Nick at the deadline. Miggy...I'm not allowed to say anything negative about him without getting scolded ;)

That's not true. There is one thing to be critical with cause and another just to be critical. His lame excuse to why he isn't hitting for power is just that, lame. He is still hitting, just not for power. All of that, does not negate his HoF career. It also does not mean he cannot turn it around. I, myself, will wait until the AS Break before putting my foot in mouth again.
