Tigers vs. Rangers Preview: Matthew Boyd is fighting for an All-Star bid.
The Tigers southpaw looks to get back on track against Texas.

These lazy outfielders are killing me. Nick lollygags to a ball that lets the runner take 2nd and then Jones takes forever to get a ball in from center and allows the runner to tag up and score from 2nd. Niko's noodle arm on the relay didn't help matters either.

Which day this week will the Tigers get their weekly win? I think it comes tomorrow.

Long ball bites Boyd again, Tigers drop sixth straight.

Detroit Tigers' Matthew Boyd battered by longball once again in 4-1 loss to Texas.
Freep

The sad tally: Six straight losses, 4-17 in June and 2-19 in the last 21 games at Comerica Park, not counting the suspended game against Oakland.

Yet another series lost...their 12th since mid-May.

I am genuinely surprised that this piss-poor excuse for a MLB team hasn't been no-hit yet...but that, if not a perfecto, seems very likely sooner or later and maybe even more than once.

Boyd's performance didn't exactly boost his trade value.

The gameday threads on the Motown Tigers and BYB forums have become shorter and shorter over the past three seasons, and often abruptly end before the games do.

Apathy is taking its toll when the product that the Tigers brass trots out onto the fields each season is/has ever increasingly become unwatchable.

Most of the Gen X fanbase has not seen a championship Tigers team, and b/c of the cheapskate owner who employs incompetents on the farm and good ol boys in the FO and coaching staffs, the Millennial gen may not witness one as well anytime soon, if ever.

There is a lot of blame to go around. IMO, Mr. I still gets most of the blame for going all in (too far) trying to get a championship. I don't blame Chris I for being cheap but I do blame him for not cleaning house and starting over from scratch.

$117M payroll isn't too low. The problem is how it's spent. They are spending $14M on two guys that aren't even on the team and another $55M on a below replacement level DH and a starting pitcher that is terrible. That's 57% of the payroll.

Next year they only have 2 guys under contract + $6M for Prince that totals $41M.

@Tigers from last night.

"Hello."
"We did not win tonight's game."
"Good bye."

Even Tigers' social media is throwing its hands in the air.

They have fell short, not easy to win titles but Mr. I made baseball exciting. Sure it was at a cost but without those high priced teams I doubt we are contenders now without the bad contracts. So we'd be looking at '87 as the last WS appearance. At least it was fun for a few years.

Tigers' last WS appearance before '06 was '84.

Cabrera 30 m's, Zimmerman 25 m's, + Prince's 6 m's = 61 mill they will be on the hook for 2020. That's a bit of m&m's to chew on.

CI is crying over this, and we will never see deals like this again. The Tigers, not being the vanguard in talent evaluation and development, will be the Seattle Pilots for the next indefinite period of time.
