So with a month+ to scout and prepare for Alabama, the offensive gameplan was centered around lining up and playing smashmouth football while running a 165 tailback straight into the line?

Does this seem sound to everyone else?

Does Al have room for misdirection in his offensive package? Does this meet the requirement of making a gameplan fit to the personnel available?

Don't forget about running Rawls outside twice, making Denard a pocket passer with one rushing attempt in the 1st half, and throwing the ball downfield without establishing anything resembling a rhythm.

Al Borges is an effing trainwreck at handling an offense with this type of quarterback. Cade McNown, Ryan Lindley, and Jason Campbell were well above average pocket passers with enough speed to be effective on rollouts. Borges will have that type of passer in the program starting next year with Morris, so maybe I should stop my criticism and wait to see what he does with the offense with Shane under center. But I'm just about fed up with this crap with Denard. He's just not that kind of quarterback.

onoy escuse i can think of is it letting drob getting hurt early

of cse drob still gt hurt,by his own actions

You can't baby someone. Well, there is a way, sit him on the sideline. Babying someone can lead them to get injured, as we saw.

Do you guys actually think Morris will be given the keys next year? What about Gardner?

DG has to commit to being a WR and learn to go up and come down with the ball, and hang on to it.

Yeah, i don't know if I'm on board with just throwing a true freshman into the mix no matter how highly ranked he is in high school.

Chad Henne had Braylon to throw to.

With a year under his belt maybe DG could become a Braylon-esque receiver??

Gardner is listed as the #3 QB. Short of major injury issues I think his days as a QB are over.

I know that's the nature of the beast, but I do feel bad for DG. He had so much hype coming out of HS, and probably had the thought process of coming in and replacing Denard, and riding a strong career to the NFL. Just never happened.

My guess is they're going to do some designed plays with Gardner under center where he throws the ball downfield, then runs down and catches it himself.

totally agree - i think it has really been an emotional struggle for him too

devin still views him as qb and will compete for next year - doubt he gets it but let hiim try

I think Bellomy is the key to this whole scenario. If he steps up (and it seems he has), Gardner can become a full time WR and Bellomy is the backup, competing with Morris next year for the starting position. If Bellomy isn't viewed as capable of anything more than being a backup, Gardner may be competing with Morris next year.

Another big question is if Morris can graduate early and be in spring camp next year.

i think devin may realize that he could be a top tier receiver if he figures out the mechanics of running routes and adjusting to the ball in the air. he has the size, speed, and talent to be good at the position. if he gets his redshirt and morris starts out well as a freshman, he could have 2 years in a prostyle offense with a talented "passing" qb.
