Garrard Released

inkfreq said:
Smith is the starting Qb so that Harbaugh has a shot at Luck next draft. Face it, nothing will get you a crack and the #1 pick more than 16 games of Alex Smith.

who do you want him to start ? He tried to get Josh Johnson twice from Tampa , they wouldn't bite.

Kaepernick is nowhere near ready....He's starting Smith because it was pretty much his only option.

there are teams FAR worse then SF , he WILL HAVE NO SHOT at Andrew Luck.

If Harbaugh was trying to lose he'd start Kaepernick, or sign Jemarcus Russell. I don't think it's Harbaugh's nature to lose. San Fran doesn't look good, but they don't look bad enough to snag Luck.

As for Garrard there are plenty of starting QB's in the NFL that Garrard is better than. Sanchez, McNabb, Smith, Dalton, Newton, McCown (lol), Hasselbeck, T.Jackson, Collins, Henne, and others. Unfortunate for Garrard that he was cut when he was.

Cincy, Carolina, and now Jacksonville seem to be battling it out for Luck, which is interesting since all 3 have young QB's they just invested picks and time in. If Manning misses the season the Colts could be in the battle as well, all the more interesting.

The one thing Eric Williams (the retard retired "basketball wives" basketball player) said that I can agree with was something about "I'm into wins and losses. Celebrate the wins and cut the losses." or some "depth-ish" life introspective shit like that. Anyways I will never understand SF and how they didn't cut this dude many moons ago.

I know he switched OC's a billion times since he got drafted, but I don't even recall even seeing a flash of above-averageness that warrants them wanting to hang on to him, much less start him........ OH MY GOD REX GROSSMAN.............

To quote the movie Three Kings " Blacks make better receivers than quarterbacks ".

Coel in his best Jim Ross voice...Oh my god that's Rex Grossman's music!

I didnt mean sit him to let him learn like Aaron Rodgers or Carson Palmer. I meant with the shortened off season and such there has been a lot ton of cramming for young qb's. I find it hard to believe that any of the mare TRULY ready to guide their offense at this point. Give him time to gel with the team, learn his playbook better, and just get the feel for playing football in the NFL before throwing him out there on the fly. I think shattered confidence hurts a lot of young qb's that may otherwise make it. I didn't mean no one can come in and play out of college. Just felt like with this wierd off season they may feel its better for him to chill.

Like I said, I don't think he's had much time under center either. It's a whole different process to read a defense coming out from under center than it is standing in a shotgun the entire game.

As far as Garrard goes, he's not great but other than MJD, what kind of talent has he been around? A young Mike Thomas and Sims-Walker? Mercedes Lewis is just now becoming rellevant... Dennis Northcutt?...a washed up Torry Holt?.. It's not like he's had a large supply of weapons. I think he's done well under the condition of that franchise since he's been there.
