They beat Florida yesterday on the road in Gainesville 69-66.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team capitalized on two Florida turnovers in the final minutes to seal a season-opening 69-66 victory over the Gators on Friday evening (Nov. 11) at the O'Connell Center.
Senior Courtney Boylan (Chaska, Minn./Chaska) shot 8-of-13 from the floor while netting 5-of-6 from the line, finishing with career highs in points (21) and rebounds (7). Senior Carmen Reynolds (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) chipped in 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-5 from long range. Meanwhile, junior Rachel Sheffer (Watervliet, Mich./Watervliet) chipped in 13 points, with junior guard Jenny Ryan (Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central) grabbing seven rebounds to go with six points.
Florida hit the first bucket of the game, a three-pointer, as neither team held a lead larger than three in the first half, which ended with U-M leading, 33-30. A Reynolds layup finished the scoring in the opening frame.
After the Gators tied the contest out of the chute in the second half, the teams remained within three again until midway through the frame, when the Gators took a 50-46 lead. The Wolverines answered thanks to a layup from Boylan and a pair of free throws from Sheffer to tie it, the 11th even score of the game.
Down one (62-61) with 2:03 to play, U-M ripped off the next six points, kicked off with 1:20 left by Reynolds, who hit a three-pointer from the right corner to give the Wolverines the lead for good and finished off on a three-point play from Boylan.
As a team, the Wolverines finished shooting 49 percent from the floor, including 41 percent from the arch. U-M out-rebounded the Gators, 42-36, to take away the advantage from last season's top rebounding team in the SEC.
Jordan Jones led Florida in scoring, tying a game high with 21 points to go with three assists. Lanita Bartley added 11 points for the Gators, who shot a collective 33 percent from the field.
The Maize and Blue return to the hardwood Monday (Nov. 14) for its home opener against Florida Atlantic inside Crisler Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
