Real grassroots effort. You can see the contrast between Slick Billary's camp & staffers and Bernie's.

a lot of emphasis was placed on the need to continue to push and stay organized for the future, even after the election. Some of the speakers made the point that it was difficult for Obama to pursue a liberal agenda with the makeup of congress given his total lack of visible popular support, and the election should not be seen as the end of the democratic process.

also learned that human douchnozzle Michael Bloomberg has vowed to enter the race as an independent if Sanders receives the Democratic nomination. that would basically throw the election to the GOP as Bloomberg would siphon off a portion of more moderate Democrats that would otherwise fall into line and back Sanders. he vowed to spend at lease $1Billion of his own money in the effort.

Trump-Bloomberg-Sanders would be two self-funded billionaires versus Bernie. if the avg person can't figure that out, we're fucked

the makeup of the crowd was 50-70% college students, 10% old communists or socialist activists, 10% gray haired yuppies who lean strong liberal, and about 10% non-descript 20-30 somethings

nope. the invite said the event was BYOB. I brought a six pack, and opened one when I got there... I looked around and realized I was the only one drinking. Was a very sober crowd. very serious.

I left the remaining 5 beers for the cause, like a socialist should. Didn't see anyone else crack one while I was there.

this brings up one issue I noticed: given that most of his supporters are more intellectual types, seemed like they were predisposed to sitting around and reading, instead of mingling and talking with other people; gonna be tough to have some of these volunteers appeal to voters. no one was going door to door though. mostly asking for phone banking help.

LOL...DB is ok, not the best nor the worst. in that sense, I'm ok with him. although, he should have canceled school today and let people finish cleaning up from the blizzard. even federal government was shut down today in DC, but good ol' NY is "up and running". why? because we can't have the stock market interrupted, right?

it isn't that that the roads are bad (though many side streets are still not cleared), but there is no place to park...in part because DB has said everyone should just leave their cars. problem is mass transit isn't 100% up yet either, and the bus stops are not plowed out. so you have small children and elderly walking and standing in the street.

SAFETY should always come first. too many politicians put money in their pockets or the city treasure chest before they even think about safety of general public.

still, every politician will screw up from time to time, so not calling for him to step down or anything like that. besides, this entire policy of never canceling school regardless of weather conditions was started by...you guessed it...King Mike.

I ask this question with the utmost of honesty. I am really a big Sanders fan, everything he has been saying speaks to me and what this country needs to move forward. I don't feel like getting into a big political debate because no one will ever back down and people are way too angry.

But does Sanders have a legit chance to win the demo nomination? Everything seems to say that Hillary just has too much firepower from the mega-corps and people are too fearful to elect Sanders.

I'd vote for Kim Jong-un POTUS and his VP...who better than Vlad Putin. Yep, I'd vote those bastards in before King Mike. I'm serious, he is the WORST! Destroyed the NYC Dept of Ed., banned the use of salt at restaurants, taxes on soda, refused to close schools after Hurricane Sandy despite extreme health conditions at many of them, allowed the work Guiliani did getting rid of the mafia and adult entertainment industry to return (albeit not to level they once were, but still), and many, many other things that just over-stepped his authority like changing the law so he could run for a 3rd term as mayor.

at least with Kim and Vlad, I'd know what to expect. King Mike will double cross you, me, his own mother, wife, and children if it means he gets what he wants...which is usually more money or power. the number of positive things I have to say about the mother fucker wouldn't even fit on a Higgs Boson particle.

Not to sound like some conspiracy nut about this, but I think DWS and the DNC were in full Hillary-mode from the start. Small number of candidates, softball debates, limited number of debates, no hype, scheduled at odd dates/times...I've always been a bit suspicious from the start, it always appeared to me that someone was trying awfully hard to keep the debates out of the spotlight. Who knows, maybe we've just been spoiled by the GOP clown car, but at least they've had plenty of chances to challenge each other.

The only reason Bernie is still around is because of the massive grassroots effort behind him and I think he has managed to overcome some incredible odds. If Hillary's opponent was anyone else, I think she'd be a shoo-in by now.

I still think Hillary probably gets the nomination, but Bernie has certainly thrown a wrench into things. I'm not exactly a total Bernie fan, but I appreciate what he's done so far. I like debate...I like choices.

I don't see why not. Clinton was supposed to have been a shoe in eight years ago.

In the pre-election polls Sanders is doing better than Obama was doing eight years ago.
