Headed to Bern-a-palooza tonight.

but anyway, you have to be pretty shallow, not to mention STUPID, to pick a presidential candidate based on his the returns he's delivered on his investments.

And even then, Trump has really only been successful at two things: licensing his name to all sorts of awful shit (gaudy clothes, Trump University fraud, etc) and his reality TV show.

as an actual real estate developer or casino mogul, he's done very, very badly.

but I guess it shows he can manipulate the gullible... why he does so well in his demographic (uneducated racist whites).

Wait. You made the comparison though, not me, right?

I think it's been brought in these discussion before but maybe not. I may have been the first to bring it up here but it's a common comparison made about him - some peg his returns well below others above, depending on when and how much money he got from his old man. It's a convenient metric but an oversimplification and when I was responding to your comment I was referring to active managers in general using Trump as an example.

Almost as STUPID as you'd have to be to read this thread and think anyone is saying anyone should vote for Trump let alone that they should do so because of his ROI - like the kind of STUPID you have to be to think Bernie Sanders can fix the problems with government by making it bigger.

Dubbsco attacked Trump's business prowess.
You defended it, making the S&P comparison.
I asked if that was really a sign of accomplishment.
You said it's better than managers do.
I said managers are criticized for this.
Then you said it's not apple & oranges and an oversimplification.

Unless I've misread, you're challenging the strength of your own comparison.

again, my response to you was about your comment where you said you heard that people who go to active managers are fools because they underperform the S&P - I was explaining why that's not necessarily true and used trump as an example. I'm explaining that it's not a perfect metric, not challenging the strength of the comparison because I don't know how imperfect it is in Trump's case. And the comparison was not mine - I didn't do or check the math, I took it from an article at face value. It's not the first time I'd seen the comparison and didn't think it was the first time anyone here, particularly anyone who was so convinced that Trump was a horrible steward of capital was hearing for the first time.

and yes, you've clearly misread. Go back and read the post - I didn't defend it solely on the grounds that he has produced returns basically inline with the S&P500. But even if I had, if he were a failure as dubbs indicates then he wouldn't have even kept pace with the stock market so at a minimum, the metric, while not perfect at least indicates he's a little better than dubbs indicates, no?

Now you're welcome to follow your knee-jerk reaction to find some kind of nit so you can disagree with everything I say in typical gulo fashion, but I have no interest in another pedantic argument over a minor point for another couple pages. Enjoy.

I think that's a BS description. Seems to me like I agree with you about as much as anyone dones, but whatever.

Bernie absolutely crushed Hagary last night. Beating her by 70% or better in all 3 states.

I enjoyed watching 8 of the 10 panel members on CNN stumble all over themselves as the results came in.

Also enjoyed the blonde Trump supporter calling the DNC on their bullshit super delegate system.

I watched that segment. She's 100 percent correct. How can any political system that's designed for popular vote have a candidate already have 500 delegates before anything even starts??

seems like you can judge the general trustworthiness of a newspaper or site by seeing whether or not the lump superdelegates in with the current delegate totals, or at least whether they include a disclaimer or not explaining that.

Fivethirtyeight.com doesnt count superdelegates, showing Sanders is about 230 delegates behind Billary. but on freep.com for example, Sanders is over 700 delegates behind Billary, which is pretty much insurmountable, and would seem to indicate you shouldn't even bother voting from here on out if you're a Sanders supporter. oddly enough the freep also undercounts Sanders #'s, giving him 30 fewer delegates than 538.

whatever, right? not like this shit is important in any way

lol, some gun nut (or maybe some smartass liberal it looks like...) on change.org started a petition to allow open-carry at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, where the Republitard Clown Car will eventually be sorted out at their convention.

Despite Ohio's broad "open carry" law, Quicken arena prohibits open-carry on its premises, a situation the petition calls "a direct affront to the Second Amendment..."

so far Trump tried to weasel out by claiming he needed to review the "fine print" of the proposal before endorsing it, and Cruz and Kasich aren't responding to requests for comment.

I'm guessing as rational human beings who don't want to be shot - on purpose or on accident - their response will be "guns are great and all, just don't carry them around ME or anyone I love or care about. but carry them everywhere else."

update: Secret Service has ruled (or issued a decree? not sure exactly what legal authority they have) that guns are banned at the RNC in Cleveland, a ruling which is contrary to Ohio's Open Carry law.

despite the fact that this flies in the face of every pro-gun statement issued by GOP candidates, "state's rights" arguments, and the NRA's position on more guns = always good, I'm not expecting there to be any outcry from GOP candidates or the NRA on this. Anyone disagree?

That's one of the great things about our country. Quicken Loans Arena is a privately owned property. They can dictate weather or not they allow guns onto their property.

durrr, but what if some "bad guys" show up at Quicken Loans arena and want to hurt people? wouldn't it be better if everyone had guns?

And now you have Bill Clinton in Philadelphia arguing with Black Lives Matter protestors... not good optics when your wife has been relying on the black vote, Bill!

(although I think you just delivered Monster's vote)

(although I think you just delivered Monster's vote)

When I first saw the video I immediately thought to myself "I wonder if Monster will try to write in Bill Clinton's name when November rolls around."

he is the only single issue voter I know, who's issue is "Black Lives Matter sucks"

locked up the crazy Catholic vote now, I bet!

I'll email MichChamp Sr. to see what crazy conspiracy theories he's come up with to explain this one.

Between this and the statements about people that only build walls instead of bridges, I think this is the most involved a Pope has been with an American presidential election. Assuming the Pope had anything to do with this. Could be some underling like the ambassador that lost his position for inviting Kim Davis to that meeting.
