Indian ascots

I don't think Indians ever wore ascots, but some did. may have been more of an individual fashion statement, than a widespread practice.

either way, it's a good look. I think they should be brought back. maybe I'll buy some and wear them out this spring.

Excuse me, but Red and I wore a white bow ties with our tailsuits for our Glee Club concerts back in our days at Michigan.

And, in fact, it wasn't the dumbest fucking thing that a man would ever wear; quite the contrary, it was the coolest fucking thing a man could ever wear.

I pulled skirt like the Michigan QB when I was at Michigan; and I'm sure Red did too, or could have, if he had wanted to.

bowties are hard as fuck to tie.

was a groomsman in a wedding a few months ago, and the groom gave us all bowties and insisted we all learn how to tie them.

I watched a tutorial online, and it seemed easy enough. but actually tying it on your neck was a different matter. I freaked because I was already late, so I went with the clipon they provided with the tux.

the bastard didnt notice until just before the ceremony, and he flipped out. ! was kinda funny, tho not at the time

well i've also known black men to pull off wearing hot pink berets...so there are always exceptions. lol

i refuse to wear bow ties. i have worn an ascot. given the choice, i'd wear the ascot everytime over a bow tie. however, the ascot definitely requires the appropriate situation. for something more casual, i'll stick with the standard tie...preferably with a double windsor knot, but if occassion is more casual i will do the single windsor, though i typically find that no tie usually fits the bill better in that situation. i consider the bow tie to be on par with the single windsor in terms of acceptable situation to wear one.

i absolutely HATE seeing the groom and his entourage wearing bow ties at weddings. disgusting look. how that became the standard look for a wedding is beyond me. most standard (thereby formal) weddings call for a better look than what teenage boys wear to prom IMO. the bride is dressed up to the nth degree, the least the groom can do is not look like he's taking her to prom. less formal weddings, like a destination beach wedding, obviously call for a more casual look and there are degrees of style between the two.

yes, all of that is nothing but my own opinion and to each their own.

I was just married in a clip bow tie that was just as easy to clip as the bow tie I wore every year for every year I clipped my clip bow tie on for Glee Club concerts!

Jesus fuckin' Christ (and I apologize for this to whomever might be offeneded by this, but it will be neither MichChamp or xztyxt, because neither of them are Christian)...why in the name of God would anybody, in the year 2013 would any male human being get any bow tie for an event that required a bow tie that wasn't a simple clip bow tie?

Champ, I'm sorry...you should be disbarred and...xztzy...you should certainly be prohibited from doing whater you currently do until a thorough review is undertaken...and you should probably be prohibited from riding the subway or the EL train too, until the situation is resolved.

My experience was a bit different. After the regular Valentines Day telegrams we ran the routine a few times for our own benefit. Based on an extremely small survey, data suggests there is 100% correlation between singing love songs to a girl in a tux, backed up by a group in identical tuxes and landing a long-time girlfriend and eventual wife.

We had been dating but not for long. A fair amount of time spent together, but probably only 1 proper date at that point. Catch was, and I wasn't expecting this, her mom was visiting. And...we're talking about 8-12 guys, so when we sing, if it's at a sorority or in a dorm, the whole house/hall comes out to listen. So I got to make an impression on my eventual wife, her mom, and the whole floor on that side of South Quad.
