Inge to compete for second base

I hope Santiago has a monster springs and beats Inge off of 2B.

Ummm......

You wanna rephrase that?

In my opinion, this is the end of Inge or just the Tigers way of telling him, you are no longer the 3B so make 2B out of spring and you will be on this team. If I had to guess, he is not on the Team out of Spring so all you Inge haters should be really happy with this announcement.

Inge could have been a solid player if he didn't start to think he was a power hitter.

But he is.

It's so simple, he just has to flick his wrists to knock the ball over the wall.

I smell an Inge=HOF thread coming on ;)

Inge will win the job after hit .056 in the spring while Santiago hit .543 with 10 homers.

LOL. No, I think Leyland has had enough of Inge.

Actually, he hasn't. Giving him 'a shot' is evidence enough. He's never going away.

Look, let's be honest. If Inge can play a strong defensive second base, I could care less how he hits. Our infield defense right now looks brutal. Maybe Cabrera turns out a lot better than he was in the past, but more likely not. We absolutely need someone who can shoulder the defensive load (Fielder isn't much better at 1st than Miggy is at 3rd). If that means one serious dud in the batting order, so be it.

Moreover, let's be honest, Miggy could realistically be so bad at 3rd that we have to put him in the outfield or DH.

If all we cared about was strong defense at 2B, than we could just play Santiago full time, he's better than Inge on both sides of the ball.

And as far as Fielder not being much better than Miggy at 1B, he's not even close to as good as Miggy, don't know where you got the idea Prince was better.

I also don't think Inge can hack it up the middle, he's not even that good at 3rd anymore, and now his knees are going to limit his range and reaction, let alone how well can he turn the DP, his throws have always been a bit wild.

Shit, if we're just looking for defense I'd go with Worth.

..and he's talking about Fielder's 1B defense vs Carera's 3B D.

That's assuming Worth makes the team, who knows if there is a spot for him with Prince, Santiago, Raburn, Inge, Peralta, Kelly, and Cabrera all playing infield positions part or full time.
