Iraq War officially over

4500 American troops dead, 30,000 American troops wounded, $2 Trillion+ spent for essentially the same outcome Obama produced in Libya with 0 American dead, 0 Americans wounded, and a few $Billion.

Except that Ghadaffi actually was a terrorist who killed Americans, and Iran doesn't gain from his departure.

Afghanistan and Iraq are the 2 longest wars in American history, some think that Iraq wasn't long enough. Afghanistan would have been over years ago had we devoted the resources to it that we had to Iraq.

Iraq is the worst foreign policy decision in US history, thank god it's finally over.

Oh? do tell please.

sadly, i agree with him.

5-10 years from now, we'll have another reason to go into Iraq and probably Iran.

Syria is coming soon.

We didn't really have a reason the first time, just an excuse.

The Iraqi people were not rebelling against Saddam as the Libyans were with Moamar. So, the comparison with Obama is invalid.

If Bush and Company(this includes Dems in Congress) would have been more honest and forthright about the cost of Iraq, do you think the American people would have bought it? We were sold this who big barrel of bullshit about a few months and almost no American casualties, right down to the oil will pay for it. The Bush Admin actually fired someone for saying that it might cost more than $100 Billion, that was an unacceptable number for them to present to the American people.

In reality, there were plenty of authorities who predicted exactly what actually would happen, that we would enter a quagmire that would cost hundreds of Billion of dollars and thousands of American lives. That Iran would be the big winner and that little would be gained for America. It's not like there weren't a multitude of these voices out there, including those in the Bush Admin itself. There is no excusing the decisions that were made and no matter how you twist it, this was a horrible decision.

This war created thousands of terrorists around the world and sucked all the resources from Afghanistan where the real War on Terror was taking place and was in the balance when Bush decided Iraq was more important than Al Qaeda. Can you imagine where we'd be in the war on terror had we went into Afghanistan with 150,000 troops in an effort to crush Al Qaeda? There is little doubt that our troops would be home from there years ago. Instead we went in to Afghanistan with a tenth of the troops and Al Qaeda was able to slip away, reconstitute and actually grow. It wasn't until Obama quadrupled the effort there that Al Qaeda's grip has begun to slip on the region.

And that's what the anti war crowd was largely saying back then, "Iraq? Wait!!! What about finishing the job in Afghanistan first?"

Check the year slick...duh!

Sadam crushed the resistance many times...even with the US help.

seriously dude..brush up on your history before you post. The Iraqi people rebelled for years and years and were slaughtered by the tens of thousands.

well... the time right after the Gulf War, where we encouraged them to rebel, then kinda stood by and watched while Hussein slaughtered them... that was kinda weak.

Don't get me wrong... America is and always will be the greatest nation in the world. Hell... even go back to like 5,000 BC: America didn't even exist yet, and we were still the greatest country in the world, and #1.

BUT I could see how MAYBE if I was an Iraqi, I might not feel like we were the greatest country by a mile. Maybe by only a half-mile. I guess. They MAY have some small, legitimate gripe about how we've behaved toward them over the years, from arming Hussein in the first place back in the 80's, then bombing the crap out of their country but leaving him in power, then putting sanctions on the country that hurt them, but didn't affect him, then, like invading it and occupying it, and killing lots of them. Or something. I guess... yeah, the Iraqis might not feel like we're the super most-amazing country of all time. Just the greatest, and only sort of the greatest.

Were they rebelling in 2003? No offense slick, but you're kinda slow. If you can't comprehend the conversation stream, then perhaps you should not post.

There was no rebellion in 2003 when the U.S. invaded...if you can't handle reality or conjugate a coherent response, then perhaps you need to go to the kiddy table.

Who says there was no rebellion?

Just because they were not entrenched against the Republican Guard does not mean they were not rebelling.

Pretty hard to have a constant overt rebellion when you get SCUD missiles up your ass for trying.

You mean that it was conceivable that we wouldn't be welcomed as heroes and liberators? Ridiculous, there were going to be flowers in the streets and this was going to be a 3 or 4 month operation, 6 months tops. It will cost $40-50 Billion and we can pay for it using Iraqi oil (even though that would be illegal). We know right where the WMDs are as Dick Cheney said , "They're to the North, South, East, and West of Baghdad." Technically he was right because if you go in any direction from Baghdad, you are basically describing the whole World.
