Obama said "recovery Summer" in April 2010?.....

Yeah, so? Obama is not a god, he cannot predict everything, he can only do what he thinks is best for the economy and then hope it's enough. I'm sure they were hoping 2010 would go better and maybe some of the experts told him it was going to, but what's important is that things could turn the corner now or in the next 6 months.

Of course Republicans will do absolutely everything in their power to try to prevent a recovery between now and the election, but they may have painted themselves into a corner at this time. But,that's Politics in today's America I guess. I have no doubt that Democrats might try to do some of the same things if it were reversed.

The republicans don't want to go down the stimulus road again...it doesn't work and we can afford it. Anything passed will take a year to be in affect, most of the stuff proposed wont help(if it does at all) until 2013. Everything Obama is proposing is for his re-election. He is using class warfare, which is a utterly disgusting tactic, but that's his background, he's an agitator and it comes out of the "Rules for Radicals" playbook.

Hardly, I'm doing everything possible to put a person in the WH who has a clue on the economy, budgets and the constitution

It's the press that is gloating today...why?

this is laughable considering newt wants to kick everyone out of the country who was born here from illegals. Tell him to read the constitution a little bit closer.

the problem with his economic team...... They're all college prof's with theories...NONE, have been in the private sector...NONE....now they're slowly retreating back to Princeton, UC-Berkley & Harvard

The problem with his economic team is there are too many holdovers from the Bush Administration.

Its getting irritating trying to have an intelligent conversation with such clueless people....dummy, Obama picks his own economic team, they're not Bush's....good grief

Yes, Tim Geitner was someone he just pulled out of thin air, the guy was one of the architects of the financial meltdown and he earned a job as the head of Obama's economic team?

Obama actually has the toughest record on immigration of any President in history. There have been record numbers of deportations of illegal immigrants under his watch.

Not to bad for a lefty socialist I guess.

Real unemployment: 15.2 (Bureau of Labor Stats).

The release today is good news for everyone except GOP presidential candidates. However, we have to see if it continues and if it is not a temporary bump. Additionally, people have to start "feeling" a change. Somethings to watch for include Iran (gas prices), the Eurozone crisis, and the right track/wrong track numbers in various polls.

Another thing to watch for...if people start returning to the labor force, the unemployment rate might skyrocket again.

A large number of the people "leaving" the work force are Baby boomers who are retiring, so they wont be coming back. Some people might reenter the work force, but not enough to boost the unemployment rate all that much.

What's funny is the "do nothing" Republicans in Congress who have proudly stated over and over they are not doing anything are scrambling to find some way to take credit for the good numbers and the improving economy. They're going to look pretty silly this fall.

Good News for America, of course lately that usually means bad news for Republicans. Of course the FOX News meme on this was that it's seasonal workers, ignoring the fact that these numbers are always seasonally adjusted. A good step, but a lot more work to do.

Some are retirements, but many are people off unemployment that can't find work and have stopped looking. Additionally, there are a lot of people that want work, but have stopped looking because they are discouraged. If they return to look, then the rate will spike.
I talked to an economist this morning about the numbers and he said they will probably be adjusted downward because of seasonal workers. Another thing to watch is gas prices. A large spike could seriously slow the economy.
