Kaline always said he learned alot sitting between Pesky and Tigers manager Fred Hutchinson as a young 18 year old his first season in 1953 from late June on.

I remember Pesky as a manager, coach, announcer, goodwill ambassador, and all around good guy for the red sox.
My favorite memory of Pesky was as a redsox tv color man announcer in 1972. Next to the last game and Tigers won it and after the final game clinched by a half game....you could almost see the steam coming out of pesky's ears and his face red with anger and his head ready to explode.

That was supposed to be all time! Pesky seemed like a good guy, but he was a Red Sock...

I wonder if he would have made the HOF if he didn't serve those three years in WWII ?
