Justin Verlander finishes 2nd in AL Cy Young race in closest vote since 1969 tie.

Justin Verlander finishes second in AL Cy Young. Was only four points behind David Price. JV got 13 first place votes.

AL Cy Young goes to: David Price in tightest balloting since 1969. Verlander second, just four points behind.

AL Cy Young winner is David Price. He had 14 first-place votes, Justin Verlander had 13. Second-closest vote ever.

I figured that somehow he would not win it this year. I figured he wouldn't be able to get the votes after having the season he had the year before. Oh well. He's still ours and that's all that matters. And not that he needs anymore motivation but this is something else that will fuel him next year.

Hopefully this is a little extra motivation for him going into next year. I think Price is a deserving winner, and it was really a toss up between him and JV in my mind.

Yeah, when he wins it next year we can all just have conversations about how he should have won it 3 years in a row.

LA assholes just miffed that JV is so much better then Weaver.

Wonder if they feel better after getting it out of their systems.

Bummer, but not displeased with the results. Bettr than Weaver.

I can totally see why the voting went the way it did. JV had a few stinkers this year while Price was pretty much solid throughout. Unfortunately the W-L record did JV in.

Ugh, stupid arbitrary W-L record, the ONLY thing Price did noticeably better was get better run support.

Also, those two LAA columnists should lose their vote. They both put JV third on the ballot behind Weaver. There was 0 justification for putting Weaver ahead of JV. Aside from that weird Rodney vote, they are the only two that didn't have Price or JV 1 and 2 and basically cost JV the Cy.

Darvish getting a vote is the biggest shock to me. Hell, Max should have gotten a vote before that fuck.

I'm almost positive w-l had anything to do with most peoples votes. Matters little these days, at least not the difference of 3 wins. I think a deciding factor was competition of divisions. They see the East as superior to the Central.

Dumb reason, it has been shown time and time again that made almost no difference. The measures all confirmed the competition faced was basically the same by both pitchers.

Think it is more likely they saw two similar pitchers and voted for the guy with more wins rather than the guy with slightly better numbers in almost every area and 27 more innings.

So JV finishes ahead of Price in MVP.

Isn't this the same exact voters who voted for the Cy Young?

Nice logic there BBWAA.
