Lewan announcement tonight

I think everyone was on edge thinking about next year's line without him. This solidifies the hell out of it.

On edge or not, it was still very preteen of this board :)

But yeah, I think everyone feels a little better about the state of Michigan football in 2013. Though I guess we've had the precedent set by guys like Braylon, Jake, and Brandon. None of those guys hurt their stock either, fortunately. I really hope the same holds true for Taylor, because the downside is very real, very scary.

I wasn't on edge. I just think it would've been stupid to have a press conference on Jan 9th just to say that he was going pro. Now, its not stupid to have a press conference saying that he's staying. If he was going pro, he should've just let it come out 5 minutes after the bowl game since he said his mind was made up before the bowl game, no press conference necessary. Does everyone who declares for the draft hold a press conference? I don't think so.

Ok so you're in the whiney old man club

It is a risk for him to come back, but honestly who is the last offensive lineman to suffer a career ending injury? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I really can't name one. The way treatment for torn ligaments has advanced, it isn't as big of a risk to come back as it used to be for an o-lineman.

lolwut

Lol you guys sound like a bunch of whiney old men in this thread. Why NOT have a press conference? There's nothing showy or selfish about it at all as far as I'm concerned. You're not stabbing anyone in the back even if you leave (the coaches and players all know). In fact, that's a reason you even attend a school like Michigan in the first place as a recruit.

And congrats to Taylor! I would never have blamed him for leaving (and it's a major risk), but I hope things really work out for him!

Eh? What's that ya say sonny? Speak up! Don't make me put my orthopedic shoes on and come over there and hit ya in the shin with my cane.

True enough. I was thinking a more likely scenario would be him getting beat out by one or two other tackles for that top lineman (injury, down year, etc.) spot and falling in the draft significantly (though the difference between third-pick money and twentieth-pick money isn't as great as it used to be either).
