Heeeeeeeeeeee's baaaaaaaaaaaack,
The Tigers have extended Jim Leyland's contract through 2013 season.

All of Leyland's coaches have been invited back for 2013, including Toby Harrah as the club's assistant hitting coach.

Definition of Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If Lamont is the third-base coach next year and the Tigers finish 88-74 again, remind yourself as you are howling at the moon that they should have finished 100-62.

I don't have an issue with Leyland being back. He's good for the clubhouse and does well with the player personalities. My issue is with Lamont. How many times does he have to make the wrong call before he loses his job at 3rd? If you gotta keep him, make him 1st base coach or a bench coach or something!

You're asking a good ole boy to get canned. Not happening, no way will Leyland get rid of Lamont.

Lamont as bench coach is a no-brainer. The guy was interviewing as the Red Sox manager. "Gene, I'm promoting you to Bench Coach, congratulations." Who knows, it might be a good fit. Unlike that helmet he wears, which was previously used to hold ice cream.

**THIS**

When the Tigers hit just .199/.246/.335 against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2006 World Series, then-hitting-coach Don Slaught resigned a few days after it was all over.

Might Lloyd McClendon do the same? For that matter, will he be able to avoid getting the axe this winter?

It's fair to wonder about McClendon's job security. Tigers batters hit just .159/.243/.246, and they failed to score runs in large part because they simply had no clue how to approach the Giants pitchers. The club's approach was a mess from start to finish, and much of the blame for that lies with McClendon.

The Tigers had their troubles at the plate during the regular season too. We were all expecting them to be one of the league's elite offensive teams, yet they finished 11th in the league in runs scored and No. 7 in OPS. The final numbers certainly would have been far worse without Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder.

Punch McClendon's name into Twitter's search engine, and you'll find plenty of people calling for his head. I prefer to avoid pushing the "Fire everyone!" button when I can, but even I think the Tigers have enough grounds to let McClendon go and try their luck with someone else.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that a power play from the front office is in order.

Yep, exactly!

The tigers, during the season, had problems at the plate because of guys like Inge and Raburn and Kelly and Santiago and the Tokyo strikeout king. I don't care who you have, those guys won't improve.

And then all those guys got the boot or sent to the bench and we didn't see them in much at all.. Yet even after that.. the offense still struggled often, How about Gene Bench coach and move Lloyd to 3rd, two problems solved in one move?

I'd prefer Brookens at third -- base coach -- not the position on the field.

dumbass Dombrowski had to open his mouth after the 4 game sweep of the Yankees, wonder if he felt the same way after being swept by the Giants?

Dombrowski on coaches: "We've had some conversations for a lengthy period about making some possible transitions with responsibilities."

from jason beck on twitter. i really do hope they get rid of lloyd and demote gene from 3rd base. theyre both nightmares.

And got replaced by Berry, Garcia and the like. Different names, same skill set.

Leyland: There will be a shuffling of coaching responsibilities, they know, but not prepared to announce yet.

Well this was the only thing I was 99% certain about all year....he was never going to be fired and he never even gave a tiny hint he was going to retire. He was always going to be the manager in 2013.

I think you're wrong. Had we failed to win the central and missed the playoffs he would have been fired, or more likely, given the opportunity to resign.

After we won the central it was likely he would be given an extension, after we made the World Series it was a guarantee, but I think for a majority of the season his job was in jeopardy.

I don't think his job was ever in jeopardy at any point in the season. Mr. I and DD love him and Mr. I is amazingly loyal. But we'll never know.

I approve this message!

I think he is a good manager. I am O.K. with him coming back. Who else could we get to manage this team? I would not have minded Tony Pena Jr. or Brad Ausmus but they would not have made a difference in my mind. This team is close but yet so far away. We need to improve the bullpen and defensively. Would not hurt to get that bullpen in order as well. Benoit, Valverde, and Coke were horrible this year. Coke did good in the end but he sucked a great deal during the regular season. Benoit and Valverde look done to me.
