Folks, as strange, magnificent and believeable as it may seem...

We Detroit sports fans are a single Lions victory (or a single loss each for the Seahawks and the Cardinals) from the first season ever...

...and I mean EVER!

in which both the Tigers and Lions got into the post season.

WOOOO Freakin' HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Ooops!!! My bad!!!

It happened in 1935...!!!

Didn't go back far enough.

And both won it all that year!

Still...was a little before my time...

So the first since then...

Yeah, you stand corrected before you got jumped on for your OP...haha!!

Closest after '35 was the '83 playoff Lions and the WS champion '84 Tigers, missed by just one year.

Fortunately for us (still) pro-football championship game-deprived fans(who are old enough to remember) here in SE MI, the USFL Michigan Panthers won their league's inaugural season championship in '83, with the likes of Bobby Hebert @ QB, John Corker LB, and Anthony Carter WR. Chris Godfrey OT was co-captains with my younger brother on their HS football team. He went on to play with the NFL NY Giants, winning a Superbowl ring in '85.

Unfortunately however, the Panthers team, as well as the league was very short-lived.

I was a huge Panthers fan. Back then I was a bigger Panther fan than Lion fan. I still have some Panther memorabilia

I don't know, I'm still taking the position of I'll believe it when I see it. There is still plenty of opertunity for the Lions to mess this up.
