Lions Could Be Interested in Finnegan

If we sign a #1 cb then you wont see wright back in lions uniform. We'll need his 3.5 mil elsewhere.
He's not getting $3.5 million from any team in the NFL
he got it from us...and he was comming off a even worse year that year.

Certainly it makes sense to go after Finnegan. Wright was pretty terrible overall and Houston needs anyone on the opposite side who can make plays. Further, Finnegan would immediately be the best tackler in our secondary, and arguably the second best tackler in our back 7 (behind only Tulloch). 10 million per year is probably more than he is worth, though. We would have to do some pretty fancy structuring. Maybe give him a big bonus, then have the salary for the first 3-4 years of the contract around 6 per year. Make the final 2 years have huge increases, but obviously expect a restructuring before then.

When it comes down to it, I would be just as happy pursuing Jared Gaither or Marcus McNeill (Backus is 35 this year, he's not getting better and the injuries are mounting). For a 10 win team, we still have some significant holes. Our cap situation is not great right now, so we may have to accept that only one or two holes even has a chance of being filled in the offseason. And I think it's better to get a long term LT (Gaither is only 26 next year, and played very well for the Chargers).

personally i think Joseph is better than both Grimes and Finnegan. If he got 9+, Grimes should be next with 8+ and Finnegan right around 8. But thats not the way it works....if people feel hes the best available corner he will get 9+ like Joseph did.

Since we are on the topic of FA's, could someone supply a team by team list of all of the guys who are going to be free agents this year (barring franchise tags) and whether they are restricted vs. unrestricted?

He had a few strong seasons, and then ONE bad one. Many teams thought he simply needed a change of scenery.

After this year, the book is out on him. Everyone knows his strong seasons in Cleveland only happened because there was simply no point in throwing his way considering how bad the rest of the secondary was. Once Joe Haden got there, it made more sense to pick on Wright.

2 bad seasons in a row is much worse than 1.

Rams and Fisher are supposedly going to make an offer to Finnegan if the Titans let him walk.
