Lions FG kickers are 4-12 this year

33% made. That's pretty much a statistical impossiblilty in the nfl. And 3 of the 5 games were indoors at Ford Field.

Offense may struggle at times, but we should be undefeated. Thanks, kickers.

Our management has no clue how to scout anything it appears..
even kickers are beyond Mayhew and the clown show..

4/12 on the year. 1/9 over 40. Cost us 2 games

Seems to be on the snap and hold too. It's more than just the kicker

1/9 on 40+ yarders, lol. Can't blame them for taking freese in the draft though. If they sign Prater like many think they will, it will be an instant relief. A bit late, but still a relief

I still think we lose in Carolina even with the makes..

today we win if only he makes one... frustrating...

Have to overcome somehow...

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...hould-call-him-after-lions-miss-3-field-goals

If anyone in the Detroit Lions organization is reading this, Jay Feely wants you to call him.

The 13-year veteran kicker tweeted that out on Sunday after watching the Lions miss three field goals in a 17-14 loss to Buffalo.

Lions kicker Alex Henery missed from 44-, 47-, and 50-yards in the loss. If Henery had made just one of the field goals, the Lions might have walked away with a win. Henery only blamed himself after the game.

"I blame myself," Henery said. "As a man, I stand up. I'm the one kicking the ball. As the kicker, I've got to make those kicks. I'm not looking to blame anyone else."

The loss to Buffalo could be Henery's last game in a Lions uniform. The Lions have had a short leash with kickers this year, Henery was only signed because Detroit cut rookie kicker Nate Freese on Sept. 22. Freese was 3 for 7 on the season when he got cut. Henery is 1 for 5.

If the Lions dump Henery, they could call Feely or free agent kicker Matt Prater, who happened to be the most accurate kicker in the NFL last season.

Prater is a risk, obviously...but if he ends up doing something stupid that gets him kicked off the team, nice to know Feely is an option. He isn't what he used to be, but he likely would have made at least 2 of those FGs.

It's not really a risk. There's no difference between what the Lions have been doing (picking up, releasing) vs signing a guy and having him be dismissed from the league. If that happens, they just go back to what they were doing before.

I don't understand waking up on Monday morning and NOT seeing a "Henery released" headline already. Prater or Feely please...

And Prater got caught drinking, right? It wasn't like PEDs?

And he got 4 games for that?? While Rice initially got 2 for beating his girlfriend? What is wrong with this league?

Well technically he's out indefinitely.
