Lions lowball George Johnson Bucs sign him to 3 year offer sheet

Does any link show the specifics of the offer sheet? Also, can the team turn around and work out a trade rather than match the sheet at this point?

I'm fine with paying him some money, but he's had exactly one good year in his career on a defense that vastly outperformed expectations. If someone is offering him median starter money, I'd probably pass.

Work out a trade? What do you mean?

Very interested to see how some of these guys do without Suh. It's why I'm hesitant to see them give anyone on defense big money.

I mean would the team be allowed to work out a trade with the Bucs whereby we get a late pick in exchange for not matching? I'm guessing no, but I'm not well versed in the NFL CBA.

And again, does anyone know how much the contract is for?

the bucs already signed him....they don't need to trade for him. We can match...or he is gone.

Ahhh fuck it. Let him walk. Hearing good things about Webster lately. Don't really want to see him roll but maybe LW is ready to go. Still got Taylor too but he was non-existent last year

Do you have any links? I didn't find anything recent. I'd be ecstatic if a raw talent like that is viable this year.

No links...sorry. In a lot of NFL/Lions groups and all I am hearing is that this kid is working harder than ever. Added like 20+lbs and is a freak of nature. If all his job is too rush the QB, maybe he could be our next George Johnson or better

I think they'll roll without GJ

Could be a lot of coach speak.....but I have read a couple articles within the last 6 months that mention Webster specifically as someone being ready to contribute in 2015.

Looks like we'll see.

Could be why they let GJ walk. I'm going to try and not freak out about losing a guy that might have just taken advantage of Suh/Fairley/Ansah making his job easier.

Webster has the measureables. I know measureables don't = production.......but we turned "camp body" George Johnson into a $3/year DE in 9 months......so I'm willing to give Webster a shot before judging this move.
