Lions lowball George Johnson Bucs sign him to 3 year offer sheet

There is virtually zero return on this. The odds of the draft pick being remotely on par with GJs performance last year are what...1000-1. Add in Mayhews draft record, and that becomes closer to 1,...a zero for every year since Lions won a championship...-1

Taylor, Webster and Tapp will easily replace George Johnson.

Johnson was the only Dlinemen with a bad run defense grade.

Watching a lot of practice tape to come to that conclusion on Webster have ya?

Johnson came out of nowhere. Nobody had a clue who he was, yet suddenly we can't live without him? Webster has more talent/speed and now a year under his belt. I've seen Taylor and Tapp play too. I've got game tape on them too.

Just saying we lost 2 of our top 3 sack producers, they were responsible for 1/3 of our sacks.

Assuming Ngata and a bunch of others can replace that is far from a sure thing. We are weaker overall on the d-line in 2015 than we were in 2014. Doesn't mean we suck, just overall downgraded. Not that hard to understand.

We are not weaker. It's just different DTs. Ansah and Jones will be better in year 2 plus more Ansah experience. He has the making of double digit sack guy easily. Webster/Taylor or Tapp could get 6 sacks with Johnson's snaps. Walker will get double Fairley's snaps. Reid in year 2. Plus a draft. This is a very good Dline. They are just as good. The back 7 should be even better than the already good performance from last year. Top 5 defense.

You underrate Ngata so much. It's sickening how much you underrate him. I shouldn't be surprised given how much you underrate our back 7 too. And I'm starting to think you underrate Ansah too.

Sickening? I think he is a top 10 DT still. Very good run stopper, ok pass rusher.

Suh is just so much better at this point it's a big drop off. When you go from best in the league to top 10 guy it can be big change. It would be going from a healthy Calvin Johnson to a Alshon Jeffery. Still getting great WR, but a noticeable drop off.

The Lions have the support around Ngata too. Ngata is a better run defender and a good pass rusher. He'll get the doubles. There will not be a drop off. Top 5 defense still.

Back 7 underrated, Stafford underrated, Reiff/Waddle underrated and now Ngata. It's like you don't even watch the games.

We get a 5th from TB for johnson and a 7th.

So either 162 or 168. Be interesting to see once all the details come out what was in the contract that caused this.
Glad Tampa screwed up something and allowed us to jump 70 places for nothing.

So much for losing that 4th and 5th. Got a 5th back easily.

Great job Mayhew.

"We got a 7th. They have the same success rate as 5th rounders. So lost a 4th. For Ngata" LKP 03/15/2015

So in your world the lions didn't benefit from this trade at all. Since you value 7th and 5th the same.

Ngata trade was great. This trade was great. They have the same success rates if you use the pick. 5th is more valuable for trades. Both were great trades. Mayhew is a genius.

I think you would be such a great contributor to this board if you used what you knew about the game and applied rational thoughts to the Lions.

Because you know your stuff, I can't take that away from you. But your hilarious levels of excuse making and homerism really takes away from it. I wish you'd go back to that one week of good contributions to this board.

He knows some stuff. Other stuff, he's completely clueless. Call it being a troll but someone who knows "stuff" wouldn't suggest we had similar talent in 2013 as did Seattle. Or that Ngata is as good as Suh. Or that Matt is top 5.

lkp wasnt always like that. I've seen him post for years including the old espn board. As I have with most of these guys. He started doing this last year when hughes started doing essentially the same thing but polar opposite.

Not just last year. He was doing since at least 2012.

Nah, Hughes can at least have a rational conversation with people. LKP is just the same thing copied and pasted 900 times.

I'd take Jeffery for CJ in a heartbeat. Jeffery has elite hands, CJ, not so much.
