Lions plan to meet with Suh's Agent Next Week

Assuming they eventually get a deal done, what will you expect the Salary cap figures to be

Here's the meeting:

Mayhew: Hi
Agent: give us 100 mil or we are waiting until free agency.
Mayhew: uhhh, duh, huh?

What a shocker!!

And the Youtube jokes are on Schwartz i thought?? Hmmmm oh yeah, the obsession continues lmao

First of all, Lewand along with Mayhew is doing the negotiations per usual.

Lewand: We don't need the cap space this offseason and I know what the DT market is. You'll get top DT money because you are still a very good DT.
Suh: Wow that's still a ton of money on top of what I already got on my first contract. I'm not a greedy person like everyone assumes. Plus I like Detroit and the new coaches. Done deal.

I don't know which fake conversation is bigger fantasy ours or yours. I think the one where Suh stomps Mayhew's balls is probably more likely. His agent will tell him to hit free agency, if he signs the Lions offer he may be missing out on a team that will sign him to more. Also he can take cities, weather, taxes, closeness to his family, etc. into account. He can always take the best offer back to the Lions and say match. With no franchise tag in play and no one to take on a $22 mil cap hit for a year rental they have no leverage.

Nobody would take on a 22 million dollar number if we traded him. They would take on a 12.5 million number(his base salary) and Lions would be on the hook for 19 million for the restrucutre/bonus money (3 million in savings for the Lions). Ooops on your part. Lions can trade him. Lions don't need the cap space and can trade him. They have plenty of leverage. My scenario is not a fantasy, it's pretty accurate on the situation.

And if the Lions let him walk they would get a bunch of cap room in 2015 (still 9.8 million in dead money but still significant more cap room for Detroit). So there is no desperation.

Suh will sign for the vet minimum. Everybody knows we are loaded with talent and his best chance to get a ring.

He might have the vet minumum base salary in year 1. Lions did it with Calvin Johnson in 2012. 715 K
