WOW. Honestly, if this is true, he should be an actor. How can he fake those tears every game for an entire season? Also, if this is true, how can any NFL team trust this guy?

makes me wonder how many of the typical ESPN puff pieces on how some dumb jock overcame a troubled past or a family tragedy to become... well a dumb jock that plays a professional/ D-1 college sport are also wholly/partly embellished.

but yeah... notre dame sucks.

This has to be one of the most bizarre stories I've ever heard about in my life. Just shocking.

I don't think trustworthiness is high on most NFL teams concern. at most he is due for some serious hazing by whatever team drafts him.

now, I wouldn't waste a pick on some lying ND-media-hyped LB who got bowled over by Alabama's running game, but I'm not as smart as a NFL team president... like Matt Millen was... so... don't listen to me.

Good point. Still, even if he is a top 10 talent, this has to hurt his stock.

"Teo didn't miss tackles in the National Title game. He was just tackling his imaginary girlfriend."

Which leads me to believe, because I hate him so much, was Brian Kelly involved in this in any way?

LOL. Notre Dame statement:

"Manti T'eo was the victim of a cruel hoax. The girl conspired with others, and led him to believe that she died."

This gets stranger by the second.

Trying to come up with a motive that makes sense...could be that the tweets were authentic, Te'o had a relationship with Tuiasosopo, made up Lennay because he didn't want to come out as gay, "killed" off the girlfriend when he figure he couldn't keep the lie going.

If it was just for publicity, I'd expect his dad to be behind it.

Messed up if true.

well the article claimed a public record search of the alleged girlfriend turned up nothing. likewise they claimed they couldnt confirm any obituaries. and neither teo nor anyone else involved has refuted the allegations even though that would be easy to do. i guess we.ll see...

I gotta say this just strikes me as an all time low. He did this just to get publicity. It makes me just sick. I have to admit I respected him because of how he played and his story well thats all gone now. What a schmuck.

This is BS. He told the story of how they met. If he had never met her then why did he say he did. His family talked about meeting her, This stinks of pure BS.
