Pudge & he were the ones who initially helped turn the Tiger ship around. I'll always have a soft spot in the old ticker for my man Maggs.

I have to give him and Pudge credit. They came to the D when no one else wanted to and then helped lead us to the world series a few years later. It sucks he couldnt get and stay healthy.

I would wait awhile longer, if I were him, as he could conceivably still grab a DH spot with an AL team whose DH fails miserably (Adam Dunn comes to mind) or goes on the DL later during this coming season.

Dunno if he would be willing to sign again with the club that spurned him, just the season before winning the World Series...but Ozzie Guillen is now the Marlins' manager, and I really, really would NOT want to see Ordonez batting in a dozen games or so as a Sox' DH vs the Tigers, but if he really wants to play while supplementing his already bulging retirement bankroll, that may very well be one of the AL teams that he could have a halfway-decent chance to sign with prior to the ASB, or maybe even the Yankees, who have demonstrated with Rojuh Clemens that they are not averse to hiring mid-season FA mercenaries...but still...Maggs in pinstripes?

ugh.

I will never forget that game winning shot he hit against the A's in the playoffs. Additionally, I hope his wife is doing well. Thanks Maggs for all the memories.

I remember all the sportswriter boots lamenting Maggs's controversial surgery and that he'd be on the DL most of the time. One gum-flapping idiot (Mike Stone on DFN) said he was washed up the spring before Maggs hit .363.

Love Maggs. Sad to see him decline so fast. He never recovered from the ankle break. But, he had one of the biggest hits in Tiger history.

Today from the Tigers official site;
Former Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez told El Nacional's Ignacio Serrano that although he has not retired, he'll probably make a final decision if no opportunity appears in the next two weeks.
