Marty Trying To Get Up To get Barron or Gilmore

Mark Barron - DB - Player

According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Lions are interested in trading up 10-12 spots, with Alabama S Mark Barron as the primary target.

The Lions don't like the No. 23 spot, as ESPN's Adam Schefter also reports they are interested in trading down. Lions GM Martin Mayhew acknowledged last week that it's much easier for teams to trade on draft day under the new rookie salary scale. Per Clayton, the Patriots and Chargers also have interest in trading up for the late-rising Barron, considered one of the safest picks in the draft.

I said this yesterday and no one believed me. If that is your man go get 'em but in a draft that has considerable depth in rounds 2-3 I would hate to give up good picks for one guy. Bad deal unless it is sweetheart.

Some of the latest buzz is that Lions are looking at the option of trading with Seattle to move up and take Barron if he falls out of the top 10. Three or four others are also looking at trading up to grab him including the Chargers and Jets.

It was actually 2 days ago. Scooped you baby genius looking tool.

tonight and tomorrow could be bat shit crazy with trades! should be fun.

Stephon Gilmore - DB - Player

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora confirms the Lions are "legitimately pursuing options to trade up" in the draft.

Whereas ESPN's John Clayton reported the Lions were targeting Alabama S Mark Barron, LaCanfora suspects South Carolina CB Stephon Gilmore is the player "they really like." It's entirely possible the Lions are smitten with both defensive backs, offering more flexibility if they do pull the trigger on a trade.

They better have flexibility. Unless the Bills trade up Barron is gone to the Bills at 10. But Gilmore could be gone by 7.

obviously DB is priorty #1 on their draftboard.

I think it should be OL but DB is a close second for sure. They looked at our secondary depth chart and duced their bvds.

They probably figured even with a sub-par OL, we scored points. Got get a DB. I would not be opposed to a Barron trade up, CB in RD 2.

If you trade up to get Barron, you're moving into the top 13. If you do that, you don't have a 2nd round pick anymore.

Maybe they're dangling Avril?????

Sub par with no depth. Backus at LT is like Al Bundy's Chevy, reliable for a quarter million miles but now you cross your fingers each time you turn the ignition. If he goes down the man who's full name is Matt Stafford When He is Healthy might make an appearance.

Trading a quality starter at a strength position of little depth for a college kid saftey. Millenesque.

I know he's older and is a bit banged up but unless I see him not make a start I won't worry about him missing games.

Torn Pec and Bicep last year. The wear and ahem TEAR is catching up.

Little depth? KVB, Willie young, and LoJack? Thats a lot of depth. Draft someone later and groom him as your 4th DE. And you have to factor in the money. Avril is a quality starter who is costing a lot of money, and they are struggling to sign him long-term.

Anyways, I doubt they'd flip Avril just to move up. They'd need more. But its not unrealistic IMO
