Good for him (and the rest of the players), I guess.

as satisfying as it was to see the Program get blasted like it's been over the past week, would be nice to see the players battle through adversity and not be whiners about it.

if they can channel that energy into preparing for each week like it is their "bowl game," they might even win a few they shouldn't. if they keep Redd and most of the team intact, they could be decent for the next year or two. It wouldn't be until year 3 that the loss of schollies and recruiting ability takes its toll.

I really like what he said and the coach was on ESPN this morning and I liked what he had to say and that mentality will carry them for a while but will it change when things start to head south. It sounds that they may be able to keep Brenneman as a recruit and I am not sure about Hackenberg. If they can keep those 2 they may be able to have a decent class this year. I think they will take it year to year with each year being one step closier to the end of the dark tunnel. I wish them luck what happened is not their fauylt but the program had to be punished.

I thought this sounded kind of pathetic. from the ESPN article on Silas Redd:
In the 48 hours since the NCAA levied unprecedented sanctions against the program, an extraordinary recruiting frenzy has played out on Penn State's campus, where players are working out. At noon Wednesday, several groups of coaches from opposing teams were waiting in the Lasch Football Building parking lot to recruit Penn State players.

"Our players are in our building right now and they don't want to leave the building because there are coaches from other schools in the parking lot waiting to see them," said O'Brien, who spent the morning at ESPN's Bristol, Conn., campus.
how Bush-league of a move is that? jeez, have a little tact.

Pretty much everything single thing about this is pathetic. Here's how I read just about every statement made:

"1st and foremost we want to stress that our primary concern here is for the victims. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. Football. "

There were six Illinois coaches out in the parking lot waiting. They practically brought their entire staff. Freaking vultures.

I see nothing wrong with other schools going after these kids.

of course not; I don't think anyone does. I know the season is just around the corner, and time is tight, it's just that you'd think they'd be professional about it and show a little class, not be practically slobbering on them, like drunk fratboys at last call.

I thought Bobby Bowden put it in great perspective when he was asked about it by Mike Golic. Golic had asked if coaches will use negative recruiting and Bowden started laughing and said you have to be kidding me of coarse it is. When recruiting you point out that if they go to your school they can win championships and they can go to bowl games.

I wasny shocked to see us land a PSU commit yesterday. If I was a kid I wouldnt want to be associated with that program right now. The only exception is if you grew up a PSU fan like Brenneman has and its a life long dream to play for them but even then I am not sure I would especially if I had other options available. The only player I wonder if we will go after is Zettle. He grew up a U of M fan and it came down to us and PSU. I wonder if he may be rethinking it right now.

Well it's either stay at PSU or be the starting QB for Southern Illinois State Tech western for Matt...

i admire them and i know they are in tough situation - i think it is the younger players who may have more mixed feelings as they have a longer road ahead

it isn't like they are totally gone but it will take time for the program to come back - this year will be better for them than next year but as someone said, when it starts getting harder, there will be mixed cries

i do feel for the players though
