He broadcast for Detroit until 1958. He died in a car wreck that year. Did not know this!
 
I remember hearing that. Though I couldn't tell you for how long. Good ball player.

Yep - From 1952-1959, Van Patrick broadcasted the Tigers play-by-play.
Mel Ott was his sidekick for a couple years...ie... Jim Price-like
