Wolverines Receive No. 1 National Ranking in Initial CSCAA..
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Following a down-to-the-wire win over Texas on Saturday (Nov. 5), the University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team is ranked No. 1 in the nation according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America's initial 2011-12 Division I poll.
The Wolverines hold the top spot, while Texas is ranked No. 2. Four Big Ten Conference schools join U-M in the top 15, as Iowa comes in at No. 10 and Ohio State is No. 11. No. 14 Indiana, which Michigan also defeated in the Nov. 5 double dual, and No. 15 Minnesota round out the top 15.
Michigan (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) returns to the pool this weekend at the USA Swimming Grand Prix in Minneapolis, Minn. The event will take place Friday through Sunday (Nov. 11-13) at University Aquatic Center. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. CST and finals begin at 7 p.m. CST each day in the long-course event.
