That is the goal. Why are people complaining about a win? Spoiled!!

I almost envy MSU fans. IF MSU won a game like this, their fans would be rioting in the streets talking about their dominating victory and their awesome defense. MSU fans would be talking about running the table after a W like this.

Instead all I read are Michigan fans whining about a W. Fans of opposing fanbases making fun of Michigan for a W. Talk about how Michigan only has 2 wins in them the rest of the season. People bringing up Army, who Michigan beat.

There were some that thought a loss was going to take place today. Instead, we are supposed to be celebrating a Michigan victory. Celebrate the wins, bemoan the losses.

The D was awesome! Iowa just scored 48 points last week vs MTSU. Remember when Michigan fans were scared, because of that. Iowa was going to run up the score against Michigan. Well, no, that did not happen. Michigan had at least 8 sacks, held Iowa to 1 yard rushing....yeah, that's right. 1 yard rushing.

Yeah, the O was nonfunctional, only scoring enough to win the game. The special teams kind of sucked, punting the ball out of the endzone, instead of burying Iowa deep. Returners letting the punts drop and roll, instead of fielding them. Kickers missing 2 field goals.

Yet, it was another W for Michigan football. Michigan is 4-1 and is headed towards a game that they should win easily at Illinois.

Go blue!! How about that McGrone!?!?

this sounds a little like complaining.

Hey! I'm just admitting that it wasn't a perfect win. They have some things to work on and improve, just like every team in the nation not named Alabama. Remember, Clemson almost lost last week.

Very good win against a top 25 opponent.

we'll worry about Penn State in 2 weeks.

It's probably something to do with the polls. You need good wins not just wins. It really all depends on how Iowa does the rest of the season. But if you don't see Michigan getting to the playoffs then a win is a win.

If you honestly think that Michigan should have the expectations as Michigan State I can't help you. Michian should be competing for national titles, MSU is happy with getting to Indy.

And you are also overlooking the fact that a 10-3 season is a success at a school like MSU whereas it's a failure at a blue blood like Michigan.

Why does all of this matter? Because Michigan hasn't won a conference title in the lifetime of half the kids on the roster. The program went from national power to mid-major and it's really sad that fans seem to be okay with that.

Come on man, you know better. We are supposed to just smile and be happy that Michigan won! We cannot be critical on here. We all have to be positive and pretend everything's OK.

This team (offense) is SO far away. They should have won this game going away. Instead, it came down to another final stand.

I did point out some negatives, but a lot of people are acting like Michigan lost.

"we, the fans, deserve better"

Why?

People are negative because of the state of the program, and how it's nowhere near what was envisioned when Harbaugh was brought on board. This is not to say the program is awful by any stretch, but we haven't taken any next steps and this is now year 5. How long can we just fall back on the "well we're better than we were under RichRod and Hoke" rationale? I would not say the fans deserve better, rather they expect better, and there's nothing wrong with that.

We can be happy with beating Iowa sure, but the writing's on the wall here. Based on how the team has looked so far, it seems very likely that this is another 10-3 type season at best with no type of championship to be won. That's being generous as we still have @PSU, ND, and OSU to come. Watching our games, and watching OSU we are absolutely nowhere close. So I think that's where a lot of the underlying negativity creeps in, is that everyone in the back of their minds knows we are going to get our asses pounded yet again, and there's no end in sight to that misery.

The team looks lost offensively. We have one run of over 20 yards this entire season I believe. We've had all spring, and summer to work on the new schemes and it just hasn't been clicking yet. Of course people are going to be frustrated. Why haven't these boys been coached up to not look so inept at times out there?

There's a lot of season left, and we all hope we can run the table and have a magical ending play out. Just hard to picture that happening.

I think the most frustrating part is that the offense seems to be really good in the first couple series or quarter. In the 3rd drive, there was a bomb to Nico. And then after that, no more deep balls. I have no idea why they don't throw those types of jump balls to our giant WRs more often.

I understand that accountability is a foreign concept to all the entitled twats in this country now, but you cannot possibly be so dense that you are not able to understand that Michigan is one of about 10-15 programs in the country where anything short of a national championship is a failure. That is the expectation, as it should be. Harbaugh knows that, the players know that, everyone involved with college football knows that.

This team isn't winning a national title this year. The problem is that they don't look like they are any closer to doing so than last year and actually look to have gotten further from that goal.

If they wanted pats on the back for escaping with a win at home against Army or Iowa they should have gone to a mid major like Indiana or Purdue. They chose to go somewhere where you are SUPPOSED to beat Army and Iowa at home. Jim was supposed to come in and build the program into a national contender. Why the hell are we supposed accept a narrow win over a vastly inferior team talent - wise when it looks like they are not getting any closer to their ultimate goal.

I said this a couple weeks ago. If we are all OK admitting that this is an above-average program that sometimes has great seasons but will never win the big one, then yeah, we can get excited about yesterday.

You sound very entitled.

Before the game: Michigan is going to struggle against Iowa. I see a win, but I think it will be a very difficult game

What happened: Michigan struggled against Iowa and won the game

After the game: Man! Michigan should've won that game and every game by 3 td's. What a dismal failure!! Fire Harbaugh. Bench Patterson for Milton!! This is bullshit!! We're going to get our asses kicked every game from here on out!

IF you accept this as rational, then go for it.

I am pleased they won yesterday. But have they shown progress on the offensive side of the ball? My impression is that if they played MTSU or Army again, the result would be no different in terms of the offense. They are still looking for an offensive identity. It is already 5 games into the season and they still don't have an offensive identity? That is not good.

I agree with everything you said.

The coaches and players usually have a 24 hour rule. They play the game and if they win, they celebrate and are happy for 24 hours. Then they get over it and get back to work and analyze what went right and what went wrong, go to work trying to get better.

Maybe fans should adopt a similar policy.

Plenty of time Monday to be Monday morning QB'ing.

Like I said, not everything is perfect, not even close, but the game was a win against a quality opponent.

Why are fans entitled to a better product?

I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm genuinely interested in why people actually think they are entitled to be a fan of a program and to demand that the program competes for a national title every year.

Do I want Michigan to compete for a national title every year? Yes, I do.

Is posting on a random message board about the woes of a team a way of holding the coaches and players accountable? Is it a rational way to demand the coaches coach better and the team plays better?

Or is just a way to vent out frustrated emotions?

Well, Michigan is supposed to beat Army and Iowa at home

Michigan did beat Iowa and Army at home...
