MSU vs OSU

you have to extend the game. The defense was stopping OSU - kick it deep and hope for a shot at a final drive, if not you only have to move the ball 25 yards in OT which is a whole lot easier than 80+.

That was a dumb call compounded by trying to convert with a pass - seems he's still unaware that TOC sucks. The Shelton pass play was stupid as well. I will give him credit though for not taking Scott out for the second possession. Maybe he's figured out that Scott is worth sticking with.

Did OSU score on the drive with the BS PF on Nicholson or whoever that was when the OSU receiver jammed his finger in his helmet? The play where there were offsetting PF but it should have been 2 on OSU. I already deleted the game from the DVR so I can't check it myself.

I don't remember whether they scored on that drive. I think the game announcers missed the call that went against Nicholson, however. If I'm not mistaken, the call was unnecessary roughness and although they never showed a replay, what I saw was Nicholson spinning Weber down hard right at the sideline. Giving him the business, so to speak. In the refs opinion, it was unnecessary. It would have been helpful had they shown a replay. All they showed was Weber's finger in Nicholson's face but they didn't show the end of the play.

I'm pretty sure they did show the replay and it was clear that Nicholson initiated the spin in bounds. It was definitely not unnecessary roughness - it wasn't a particularly rough tackle, or a late hit out of bounds. No flag was thrown until after when they got in each others' faces and webber clearly jammed his finger in Nicholson's facemask. That's definitely an automatic 15 yards that was missed. It was a bad call all around that possibly extended a scoring drive. Who knows what would have happened if they got the call right - it's not as bad as the early whistle on the Braxton Miller fumble in 2012 (by the way, another 17-16 loss to the buckeyes in Spartan Stadium). My point is we've had enough things go against us this year, we don't need refs piling bad calls in key situations on top of everything else.

Yes, they did score there with a field goal. Unless something was said by Nicholson I am still dumbfounded as to both why he got the penalty and why Weber didn't get one for the eyepoke.

Also, I'm still trying to figure out what was worse: the decision to go for 2, the decision to pass it, or the pathetic squib kick.

Maybe the pathetic squib was actually an even worse on-side kick?

Maybe it was just Dantonio trying to solidify his position as a good but not great coach. he's gotta be careful though - all this sandbagging could end up taking him down a notch.
